    Need advise...Morgan 4" or Rock Island 4"???

I realize that this is six months old and a lot of very competent people have been involved in this discussion and I am not idly trying to foment discord but to me there are signs of brazing. The irregular line of what appears to be yellow metal under the red paint at the juncture of the movable...

    Need advise...Morgan 4" or Rock Island 4"???

On the rock Island has not that whole movable jaw been broken off the slide and then brazed back together?

Anybody have a Wolf Brand Bench Grinder with a bad switch? Let's Fix it.

I think that your fix is practical and with the addition of an oval shaped escutcheon plate it would be elegant in my view. After many decades of working the trades, I have quite a collection of bosses, coworkers, apprentices, and friends that would laugh uproariously at the idea that I was...

Anybody have a Wolf Brand Bench Grinder with a bad switch? Let's Fix it.

Nice save! Far be it from me to talk about doing things "by the book" or "according to code" or "best practice", etc. Many times I have used what I had at hand with great success. But if one is going to take the time to install a snap switch (which I heartily endorse) one might look into using...

HELP ID Wards Lakeside Bench Grinder date of mfg ?

Please note that the "Serial Number" is 8-2-40. I submit that the year of manufacture is 1940. This is somewhat supported by the volts listed as 110, not definitive by any means but, once again, somewhat in keeping with my contention. Hopefully I have included enough caveats that I am not flamed...

    MattVette89 Feedback page

Forget the superb tools, forget the expert packaging and super fast shipping, it is Matt's willingness to accommodate a buyer's special request is what sets him apart. I asked that he not tell my daughters that I was still buying tools and agreed to keep it a secret!! When a masterclass in...

    c. 1909 Eames Socket Wrenches Automobile Set

I am writing in regard to post 3 of 10. I have a Craftsman C-93 hinge handle with the drive stud twisted 45*. I read somewhere that it was made by Snap-on in the 30's when they would take any contract they could. The hinge head is similar to the wartime Snap-ons that you show but there are...

Very nice work. I wish that I had that kind of ambition because Lord knows I have a couple of Gerstner's that could use it.

Snap-on B2191• "A specialty socket for servicing recessed 5-point nuts found on tamper-resistant Buffalo covers used by gas, electric and some water companies to protect shutoff gates." I worked my share of shut downs, turn arounds and overhauls to find it prudent to carry one.

those damn hinges on plastic boxes.

Here is a tip for putting hinges, latches etc. on blow molded cases and coolers. Do not drill a pilot hole or use self drilling screws. Rather use a red hot nail to create a pilot hole and you will get a nice bulge of plastic that, after it cools, gives the screw much more material to "bite"...

    Why use a T handle?

I had assumed that the OP was referring to a sliding T handle for use with interchangeable sockets.
