    24'x60' garage addition build

Really cool build! I enjoy seeing how others deal with the original small garages most houses have. I see that you have a header already framed in the rear wall. Any reason you haven't put in a rear door? Luke

    Suburban garage expansion planning/project

Just a quick update on the progress of the garage. It has been slow going amidst a couple vacations, kids out of school, and breaking my ulner; Doctor's orders not to pick anything up over 5 lbs. Anyway, now back into the swing of getting it done. I finished the electrical, and had the city do...

Trying to go for a concrete look on my walls...

Here are a few more pictures. I didn't take any of the actual application of the Feather Finish, but it was just like doing a skim coat of drywall mud. I used a 12" trowel and worked it over to the finish I liked (smooth with some light trowel marks). I had a friend use it recently where he...

Trying to go for a concrete look on my walls...

I did this a few years ago on a fireplace piece. I used Henry Feather Finish and was very happy with the results. I built a wood frame, covered it with cement backer board and trowled the finish over the top. I can post more pictures of the process if you want. Luke

Filling voids in concrete joint before epoxy??

Thank you for the reply and suggestion. I'd like to get it done in the next couple of days, so ordering it may be a last resort. Are there any other options, or where could I find epoxy mortar locally in Houston? Thanks again! Luke

Filling voids in concrete joint before epoxy??

When I removed my sill plate the concrete nails pulled away small sections of concrete from the joint. Most are about 1/2" deep by a couple inches across, with the largest being 2"x 1'. What is the best material/product to fill these voids? I plan to grind it all flush after filling, and prior...

    Roll Up door in Residential?

I just installed a Janus 750 with the wind clips engineered to 150mph, and could be happier. It was relatively easy to install, and seems to seal pretty well though I hadn't finished trimming out the opening. I didn't notice any major noise or drafts from the storm the other night. I have the...

    Suburban garage expansion planning/project

Yea, they are a bit overboard, but they span 20' and had to be designed for WPI8. Even though I'm not technically in windstorm I.... The line stops about 200yds from our place. Not code, though I believe it should be. I had my previous house needing the OSB sheathing replaced after 12 years...

    Suburban garage expansion planning/project

Finally finished up with most of the exterior. I have a few trim pieces to get up, then caulking & painting. I'm still undecided as to the ceiling covering; either T&G pine, or cedar fence boards with a half-lap cut into them. Whichever way, I will also carry it over to the breezeway ceiling...

    Suburban garage expansion planning/project

With spring break coming to a close (one of the great perks of working in education ), here are a few more pictures of the construction phase. I originally had one helper and quickly realized if I was going to get the exterior finished in 8 days I had to hire two more guys, as well as hire a...

    44 Bikes Frame Shop

Wow, just WOW. I just went through the thread, and the barn to shop transformation looks great, and your frames are phenomenal. I'm just getting back into riding after a knee injury about 10 years ago, and found myself with a 26 OM Flyer & 29 Big Ripper 'BMX' that I'm really enjoying. Have you...

    Suburban garage expansion planning/project

Well, it has been a bit since I have had anything to add to this post, but I have finally made progress. The weather around the Houston area has been less than cooperative. We finally started the framing on Tuesday, and while we are a little behind, we have made some good progress. Taking a...

Anyone here familiar with codes in Libert County Texas?

If you already have the building on the property, as well as the trailer, I seriously doubt anyone would question if you slept in the "house" or "garage". Nothing you will be doing is structural, so no need to involve the county at all. I am pretty sure we didn't notify/permit a pole barn as...

Anyone here familiar with codes in Libert County Texas?

Considering some of the places that were outside our old property on 105, I would say there are no regulations at all.... Being serious though, you can call the Liberty county courthouse and they will point you in the right direction for whomever covers your area. Luke

Expanding a Double and adding a Boat-Port in Calgary

Not sure what finish you are going for, but I have used spray on bedliner on a few sets of wheels with excellent results. I like the black rugged look; really depends on what end look you are going for.
