As far as tool boxes go, made in China, according to the packaging. I've had the matching base and top box for some years and never had the slightest problem with them. Stronger than most. As for other products, most of the core tools are specifically made for them. A lot of their products...

Uh oh. Well, that's what the wife said. I told her not to worry, I won't be going out on a tool buying spree. I've already done that. Already have the base and top box to match.

    Tools of Japan

Bit of a follow up on my earlier post link I have an old Star gun that has served well for over 25 years. Repairable, but parts are getting a bit harder to get and the gun has a problem that new parts only fix for a while. Time to retire, but not urgent. Then I received an email telling me...

Comfortable flex head ratcheting wrench set recommendations please

I hear what you're saying, having used the GearWrench flex head ratcheting rings. The sharp edge on the handle drives me nuts, too, but it was the best choice in a bad bunch at the time. Some other brands have come out with more comfortable handles but, really, the best way is to get into a tool...

What Tool Is The Bane of your existence? I'll go 1st

:ROFLMAO: Ahh, Hungry Jack's, aka Burger King. Well they were a bit smarter, realising that calling them chips and improving the seasoning actually made a much better product. Just like the burgers, they're better at Jack's. Now, if only they could improve the service levels they'd give the...

What Tool Is The Bane of your existence? I'll go 1st

Yeah, McDonalds have been trying to change our language for the last 40 years or so, too. Customer: G'day love. Big Mac and chips, thanks. McDonalds staff: Large, regular or small fries and Coke for your drink? Customer: Nah, Just the burger and chips thanks. And some tomato sauce as well...

    Refrigerated air dryer question

While drying air after it leaves the tank is quite effective, cooling and drying between the compressor heads and the tank entrance, is vastly more effective. Using some high heat hose just connect from the cylinder heads to the cooler. Cooler only needs to be simple. I use 15mm copper tube in a...

    Collecting tools?

Not if they are actually different. They might have specific use applications. Although 17? Yeah, ok, having every colour SnapOn handle is collecting. But I have a 3/8" socket set that I bought when I was 18 and I'm actively looking for a replacement for one socket that went missing. I don't...

Nut Drivers (new or old) show them here

I don't use nut drivers much, but there are the odd times, so I bought this Gearwrench set. Nothing wrong with it but having to change the shanks all the time drove me nuts. So I bought a few of the King Tony ones in the most common metric sizes. Longer shank is good and if I want other sizes I...

Acetate Handled Screwdrivers (but strike through, full tang, demolition, hammer cap)

Sidchrome for me. Serious professional quality and that puts them streets ahead of the next competitor here. I have Vessel screwdrivers as well (not the through tang ones) and I'd rate quality much the same, although the Vessel ones look a lot prettier. I bought this set close to 20 years ago...

Completely OT, but the city was named after Lord Sydney who was Thomas Townshend, the British Home Secretary at the time. There's a Sydney in Canada also named after him. Sidchrome tools were made by Siddons who were a forging company in Melbourne.

Were you thinking "Sydney"? No self-respecting Australian would ever allow himself to be called Sidney. It would be "Sid" or just "hey you". When they were made here Sidchrome tools were every mechanic's choice. Better than SnapOn, and half the price. The move to Taiwan manufacturing did see...

Sidchrome 21mm R&OE. Had to special order and then wait. Price, at $35 from Total Tools was about what I expected. Sidchrome because SP Tools don't make this size and the quality is top shelf. Now I just have to do a little rearranging.....
