It appears that Ridgid pipe wrenches were painted black up to 1948. There after they were red.

The first wrench has E3-1 and PAT. PENDING on the jaw along with PAT. PEND’G on the Handel. The second has E3-3 ALLOY STEEL OIL HARDENING on the jaw and PAT. PEND”G on the body. I have a few questions if your able to help. Do you know if these were originally painted black? What would...
