    T8 high output fixture?

Hey guys- So I have to readily show my ignorance here, but I'm hoping some of you that are more electrically geared than I am (which clearly won't take much) can help me out here. I've tried to do a lot of searching/reading, but I'm still coming up... well... :headscrat I had some 8' high...

Starting this Garage build with all 10 fingers...

You might want to mention to your wife that I said somehow two of them manage to amount to more than double the work... ;) LOL Up until about 4 months ago I was working from my home shop, so the boys were with me in the shop about 70 hours a week. I don't let them out there if I'm welding, but...

Starting this Garage build with all 10 fingers...

Great thread! I really respect your pertinacity... You've really improved your shop and your skillset over the course of this thread. :) And clearly you have excellent taste when it comes to a shop mascot... ;) :)

    Some shop pictures

Nice to see another knife maker posting here Todd! :) I don't post here very often, but try to sneek in here and read reviews on products and get ideas for my new shop... it's total information overload if you're not careful! The shop looks really nice! I've been thinking about getting one...

Cheap walmart T-8 48" light fixtures ok ?

Looks like a lot of guys have better luck with these than I did... Or just haven't had them as long. After a little more than a year, I had 15 out of 20 **** out. Some of them after only a couple months. Financially, stopping to pay $10 for a new light is no big deal... but it's a royal pain...

$150 Lift gate service charge - is this reasonable?

I think lift-gate services are a rip off in general!!! When I ordered my Rockwell hardness tester, I told them I didn't need a lift gate. The lady told me it was 165 pounds so I had to get one. I told her how I'd been lifting weights for almost 20 years and that it wasn't a problem, blah blah...

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

I went in to grab a 2 ton shop crane for helping me move my **** from the old shop, to the new shop. It was advertised on sale at $210. I had the 20% coupon but didn't figure they'd let me use it. Turns out it rang up at a little over $170, and they honored the coupon... so I walked out with...

    Show me your ANVIL

There aren't too many places that make them that big anymore... but that's about what one is going to cost. The problem with buying an anvil nowadays, is that people decided they make neat "decorations," so anvils that (just 10 years ago) used to sell for about $1/pound, now typically sell for...

Are very many of the shops here actually worked in?

Great posts, and great photos!!! :) See, in my mind, that is a very very nice shop, but looks like you actually work in it. As far as space that's used for display.... I don't have it in my old shop, but I will in the new shop. Probably not enough for display shelves and such, but at...

    Show me your ANVIL

Hey guys :) I do realize this thread is old, but it was just refreshed on the board... FWIW- Rail makes a poor anvil. With an anvil, you want mass under your work. Rail is basically just a really stout, crowned I-beam. I worked on a track crew and replaced miles of track... so it's not like...

Ok what is this and do I need it?

+1 I have a 10" that I can move around with mild grunting. I have one very much like the one in the ad, and it requires lots of grunting and swearing... it's about 220# If you don't have a mill, there's nothing I can think of you'd use it for. Other than telling your buddies, "Hey look at my...

sandpaper and abrasives -how do you store them?

These pics were focusing on something else, but you can see how I store mine. I have stuff up to 8,000 grit.... so I can't leave it out exposed to the rest of the shop. The cheapy drawers from Wal-Mart fit 9X11 sheets in a sleeve, perfectly. :) And, surprisingly, they don't allow **** to get...

Are very many of the shops here actually worked in?

I'm glad this seems to have been taken in the way I intended it.... and NOT as some weird way to start something ugly. Thanks guys :) I'm probably the odd man out here, because I am very particular about cleaning up after myself... but with everything I have going on in the shop (grinding...

Are very many of the shops here actually worked in?

Hey Folks- :) This is a serious question, and not at all meant as any kind of a "troll" or smart-*** post. Are very many of the shops/garages that are posted around here, actually worked in very much? Or are they more of a place to escape? Like the retreat for the man of the house (or lady)...
