low profile sockets to use with ratcheting wrench

I've also got the OEMTools set mentioned above, they're a lifesaver in certain situations, particularly when I need a 'mid-length' socket -- I'll stuff one of them into a standard length socket and come out a little shorter than my deep sockets. The ratcheting wrenches have held up well too...

    Keyboard lubricant?

I never thought I'd see it here on GJ. A good keyboard is like a good ratchet... Some folks don't understand why you'd spend big bucks on a Nepros/Snap On/Wera, but if you're using it every day, it makes sense to want something high quality. My keyboards aren't that exotic in the grand scheme of...

New HF Daytona 3 Ton Jack Stands

They don't look bad, but I'd prefer it if they had the feet to spread the load like the Chicago Pneumatic ones. This is the set I bought to replace my recalled stands, I've got two sets of HF jack stands that weren't part of the recall but I still heavily prefer these with the locking pin. I've...

    Snap On, Baby sitting!

Fancy seeing you around these parts, if you're who I think you are. Notoriously quick GTI? Definitely report back on your thoughts on the Snap On ratchets, I've often been curious but never had an opportunity. Currently using lots of Tekton and HF, I'm satisfied but if the SO are truly worlds...

Anyone ever go back to basics? Simpler/Cheaper tools

My roofer FIL went from 14.4v Dewalt to Ryobi 18v -- he swears by the Ryobi now. Personally I'm team yellow for my hardline/regular use tools, but anything lawn related is Ryobi. I don't enjoy lawn work, so I want to do it as inexpensive and painlessly as I can, and Ryobi fits the bill. If I...

    Harbor Freight Torque Wrench???

After ~10 years, I finally had my first HF torque wrench fail on me -- old enough that the SKU was only three digits on the sleeve. I took it in, walked out with a new one (after some brief browsing, of course), no questions asked. The new one is Taiwanese, feels good, and checks out accurately...

    Is Tekton dumb or not?

My biggest argument with them is that they're non-reversible ratcheting wrenches, yet Tekton still doesn't offer long pattern traditional combo wrenches. I'd love to get an inexpensive set of long metric wrenches with no skips, but nothing has really caught my eye yet. On the bright side...

Best inexpensive tools for automotive trade school

If you've got a Harbor Freight nearby, their ratchets are inexpensive and the Taiwan impact sockets seem to hold up well. I'm not a fan of the wrenches, I went Tekton for those and have no complaints, particularly at the low price point. Screwdrivers, I'm very fond of my Kobalt set, though I...

Give me your thoughts on 1/2" ratchets

I like my 1/2" HF pittsburgh pro ratchets, for general use. Ease of warranty and low initial cost are benefits. However, I bought the aforementioned Wera, and let me say it's an absolute weapon. I hear the 1/4" and 3/8" ratchets are lovely, but the Wera comes out when things aren't playing nice...

Are you a cheap -fastener bits- or premium

I went Makita Gold, and so far so good. The price isn't awful for good bits, and it's far less frustrating than using the cheap ones. I've generally been pleased with Dewalt bits as well.

    Fortress

Neat, thanks for the review. I'm in the market for a replacement for my 3gal Kobalt compressor, which only really gets used for filling tires and running a brad nailer. Let us know how it holds up longer-term, I've been back and forth on the HF compressors for a while. I've heard mixed thoughts...

I know its been talked about, Ratcheting wrenches These cheaper sets ok?

Like others have said, reversible is the way to go. If you want a whole run of 8-19mm without skips, OEMTools makes a relatively nice set for ~$90. I would venture to say that it's close to not worth the money to buy non-reversible ratcheting wrenches, because the risk of getting a wrench...

Deep offset box wrenches for strut work?

http://www.metalnerd.com/catalog/product/3a8d93bf5f724fad84fcb3bc5de6dec1 Depending on the size, this is what we over in VW/Audi land use. Works great, has provisions to use a torque wrench, and in general it's come in very handy repeatedly.

    Upgrading screw drivers

I like my Kobalt set, for general use. I also got my buddy the Porsche Design Hazet screwdrivers as sort of a joke gift (he complains about my german cars, and needed a good set of screwdrivers) and likes them a ton. I've got a couple Wera, and find them very comfortable, but the pricetag is a...
