Help needed with structural details of steel entry gate build.

No comments on steel size, but your diagonal is opposite how I have always been taught to put them. As shown the weight of the far side of the gate is pulling down on the top portion of the post. Generally I have always been taught to start high on the far side and join low on the post side...

    Hidden Shed Build

FIY, if you are attaching the roof to the house, the foundation/slab needs to be as deep as the house foundation.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Garage Refurb®

FYI, I think most Menards stock this one and I should also fit the SDR pipe: https://www.menards.com/main/plumbing/pipe-fittings/corrugated-pipe-fittings/rodent-guard/mc90460/p-7720120061300557-c-9568.htm?srsltid=AfmBOorrePapSXvCvwz0o9VxB1aOfL8Xl9qhnfantVASw2uqcJo_xZHf

Where would you put the hoist?

Hard to tell with the info provided.... But with the two doors, if one is primary access and the other secondary, I would place the lift centered on the secondary access door right next to it. Can always drive thru it if no car is on it and if something is being worked on the rest of the space...

Which type of pvc should I use to bury downspouts?

I did similar to SouthernIllinois above... This was phase I. I have two more that I need to tie in to the drywell system and increase its capacity yet. Most of the rear system has no been covered by a patio that was planned when I built the rear garage a few years ago.

Which type of pvc should I use to bury downspouts?

Unless I am missing something that everyone else is seeing, ASTM2729 is not schedule 40 (it is closer to sch 30) and similar to the green pipe also posted. This is schedule 40 solid (I would not use foam core ever)...

Roofing shingles "seconds," anyone have any experience with them?

Sorry you did not like my opinion.... but seems like my opinion also matches others experience with seconds (and what I would have expected from a manufacturer's rejected product (which is pretty typical regardless of the product made). Also many of the questions I asked were also asked by...

Roofing shingles "seconds," anyone have any experience with them?

My opinion, but I would be hard pressed to skimp money on materials here (but your asking for opinions). - Are you doing the labor yourself? or paying someone? - Can you afford to do it again if these fail prematurely? - Do the seconds have the manufacturer's warranty? (my guess is no) - What...

Do they still make 4-post lift bridge jacks that are manual on the roller bearings?

I had to look myself when I saw the post. I only saw their roller jacks available for the "Pro" lift which has a "lip" for the bearing/ wheel to ride on and is a different construction than their other. If your lift has that great, mine does not. I also did not see where they offered it...

What causes this on a tankless water heater?

I believe Larry is correct, but his picture of the corroded valve is not: It controls the water around the exchanger assembly to regulate heat. Makes sense with how the pipes appear to go in/ out. It has o-ring seals that probably went bad. No telling with the amount of corrosion if the...
