    Replicating Dimensions

There is a lot of validity to this post. I have a fairly simple hatch install to be completed at work on a building exterior. As soon as we go outside, we are on city property and wouldn't think of proceeding without a professional and licensed design firm. They know the people in city hall to...

    Replicating Dimensions

    1. 7/12 pitch 2. 8 x 8 3. 16" to 24" 4. 8' to bottom of white trim 5. 25' or 26' wide by maybe 23' deep B interesting experiment to know how all these estimates compare to the real thing.

    Air compressor gauges??

We run a series of compressors for pneumatic controls and dry pipe fire suppression systems. The newer machines have a built in hour meter and an oil useful remaining life indicator. We usually see close to one year before the systems indicate need for service, so will stretch it a bit to make...

Is this a 15 amp outlet?

Re: Adding Outlets in Garage It is likely my controls background speaking, but I am a huge fan of terminal strips

    Garage subpanel size

I would recommend the largest subpanel your regional codes and personal budget can allow. The costs to go up to a 60 Amp sub from a 40 sub would be pretty small at the start, but later would be more frustrating than may be necessary.

I'd like to thank the guy that instructed to twist wires CCW when using a screw.

Now I have to go try this. Currently at the airport; do you think they would mind?

No power on one circuit. Out of ideas.

Not likely the case here, but an example of how obscure a wiring install can go: I am aware of a residential duplex where a light switch for one side controlled an outlet for the second side. As already mentioned, this will need to be traced out with a toner. Another, but not recommended...

    Ball End SQUARE Drive screwdrivers

I find these invaluable. Unfortunately, they do wear out more quickly than a regular screwdriver. Haven't found another brand yet.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Set up a work surface for the better half to do some odoriferous cooking. We dont want the odors lingering in the house.

compressor like to take a walk!

I have mounted larger (30 hp ) motors to patio stones for ballast. You can then put a pad beneath the patio stone to protect the finished floor

    Subpanel Question

I was working with a Master Electrician on an explosion proof low voltage circuit. Nothing in the code here was specific enough, but there was a clause that said if the installation was intrinsically safe, it will pass. You may look for something along those lines.

    Subpanel Question

Different jurisdictions will allow different methods and materials of installation. So in general terms, we have what is commonly referred to as Teck cable. It has a water proof layer over top of an armoured sheath, much like BX cable. I would look at something like this, in the appropriate...

Running wire off an existing outlet to add additonal outlet in garage

If you go low voltage, the wiring requirements are less stringent. You could use a free-air run of 16/2, for example. This then gets tucked up around any obstructions, or runs around the ceiling where it meets the wall. Powering it from the switch gives you on/off control with the rest of the...

    adding doors to steel racks

Get something like this http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=66804&cat=1,43456,43407&ap=1 Then you can get this https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.36x24-sheet-metal-26g-galvanized.1000126781.html Make a seam around each edge to give it rigidity and mount with piano hinges; secure piano...

Running wire off an existing outlet to add additonal outlet in garage

I would suggest a low voltage transformer powered by the light switch, then feed to low voltage LED.
