Aquired OLD sandpaper rolls - good/bad?

Just kidding. They don't look-- to me-- like classic Stanleys or products from some other makers of that time. To my eye, they look like a lower-priced product, and spokeshaves aren't a high-tech item in any case. Someone may be along soon who will know more. But, heck, you could clean them...

Incredible. Use them as dock cleats?

Aquired OLD sandpaper rolls - good/bad?

Kinda nasty, but the price was right. If it works, it works. Is that a pile of small, crusty spokeshaves in the last pic?

Sears Craftsman Bench Grinder - any worth?

Congrats-- nice work. There are lots of balancing options, and you can decide how much effort you want to put into it. Dressing for a start, for sure, for getting it better radially. Larger, machined flanges will help with lateral wobble, ditto machined spacer bushings vs plastic ones (if...

Sears Craftsman Bench Grinder - any worth?

Well, you'll certainly have lots of options for 6203 replacements-- super common. I like to replace bearings in machines that will see abrasive dust with sealed bearings (2RS), even though there is slightly more drag with the sealed bearings. Others prefer the ZZ shielded bearings. Probably...

Sears Craftsman Bench Grinder - any worth?

That is not necessarily a good thing. People assume that this means that the bearings are in good shape, and they might be. More likely: the bearings are bone dry-- the original grease either gone or turned to stone-- so there's no resistance. I'd have a look at the bearings and verify. It's...

Any tools you buy NEW and immediate upgrade or modify or polish or whatever??

Mikey, you mentioned chisels-- I don't think that I've ever purchased a new one, but all except (maybe) the Gucci brands will need work even if new. And, yeah, I did buy a new M18 drill, and I couldn't believe how bad the chuck was. I didn't buy a Röhm. I just grabbed a chuck from a...

    Jigsaw or sabre saw

Just for fun (and to add to the confusion), my old Delta 24" scroll saw can also use saber blades (jigsaw blades). Useful every now and then.
