Sears Evolv brand hex bit snapped like a twig

6mm and a 3/8" BREAKER BAR... ok...time to invest in something called penetrating oil. PB blaster is amazing, don't be smoking when using it WD 40 is similar. Soak for a day or two, try it again. Leave the breaker bar in the toolbox. 6mm is tiny, start small and work up. I like the tap...

Can anyone make a case for China Craftsman?

I have a simple answer. NO. Something I will never buy. If I'm forced to borrow, ok, forced because there's NOTHING else at hand. This is the end of sears. The stores here are empty...not being restocked. We used to have an amazing hardware store, old timers and all. Tools of every...

How buying Snap On may actually cheaper than Harbor Freight

I think the value lies in the fact the SO tool will last as long as you want it. Take care of it, keep it lubed and clean, replace worn parts on it...it will last (theoretically) forever. How long did you plan on living? Or for that matter, using the tool? Does the tool get abused (with a 5...

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

I can attest to the aerospace industry buying Bonney. I worked in that line of work for 8 years. Everything seemed to be Bonney. Big, old, heavy wrenches, sockets...you name it, Bonney it was. I was let go last year and miss it and the tools that went with it. Makes me wonder what happens to...

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

Yes, Bonney was swallowed up by Apex tool in the early 90s and vanished. Same Apex tool sending every tool making job overseas.

    Armstrong moving?

Apex is a greedy slime company only interested in profits. Made in cheapochina on everything anymore. Disgusting. Plain and simple. The crescent wrenches don't even look right anymore.

    Identify this from grandpas garage

I'm thinking a spring compressor of some type. Maybe something to put assemblies in to compress, install and release.

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

I have been collecting Bonney for a while. Started at the flea market, $1 sockets, $2-3 wrenches a long time ago. The quality is unmatched, the shape and feel of the wrenches Quality that is only from the USA. Sad they're gone, but we collect and remember.

Who Owns the Dewitt, Nebraska Vice Grip Plant Now?

the chinese vice grips are pure S. the metal is so cheaply made they flex when you atttach to practically anything or simply pop open when under pressure. Irwin needs to be boycotted at all costs, for taking a great tool and trashing it just to save a few dollars.

How do you keep track of your tools when you work with someone else? Do you mark?

For tools i'm forced to lend out I mark with nail polish. The ratchet stamp gets the indentation filled with a certain color. Crescent wrenches are the same. I have an idea if who has what. Some people don't get to borrow based on their history.

HF Rare Earth Magnets Are Back In Stock!!

I know...I'm boring...hanging stuff on the fridge is where I use mine. And one lives on the oil pan for the car. And I have been known to use them around the office...like hang instructions inside a cabinet.

odd ratches found in old tool box

Ok, here's what I have... Rust has taken it's toll on the one wrench but they're heavy and well made.
