    Cement Cleanup Question

Is this your way of saying you're not a believer in flyash?

is quikrete ok? going to redo garage floor apron.

I would skip the bag mix all together and just have your local ready mix supplier bring you some 4000 psi air entrained concrete. Your floor most likely doesn't have any air in it, or low air anyway. It is pretty typical on finished floors to do that, but like yours, the part that sits...

    New home garage floor crack

Thank you. Some of the **** I read on hear just makes me shake my head. We seem to have a lot of concrete experts on here that know absolutely nothing about concrete. I'm with you, that crack isn't going anywhere.

    New home garage floor crack

Are you trying to say vapor barrier and rebar will prevent a slab from cracking?

    New home garage floor crack

Yeah, pretty sure the holes from the cores will look worse than the cracks. I'd check the depth of the saw joints, with the way it cracked next to the saw joint, I'd guess they might be a little shallow. The other crack is coming off a corner, have seen that a million times. I highly doubt...

    Cement mixers

I see you're in Michigan. Is this exterior flatwork you're doing? I'm asking because I'm curious about air entrainment in concrete you're mixing yourself.

Yes, it will eventually set, even if it's turning. Also, depends how much is in the drum; you either get in and chip it out, or, we've even had a blasting company come in before and set small charges in the drum if there is a lot in there (I'm talking numerous yards).

Need quick thoughts on a price quote

Seems pretty high, but then again I don't know your location either. I'd seriously pass on the guy, price is high, plus not wanting to use rebar is a red flag. Did he happen to mention what kind of fiber he would use?

    Help with floor pour issues.

Like I said, keep the delivery tickets, the info is most likely on them, but concrete isn't as black and white as a lot of people on here think, there is a lot more that can go wrong other than adding too much water. I actually lol'd when I read the part about thinking having batch weights is...

Do you know how dry a 2" slump is? Think like how dry you'd want it if you were building curb. You would think that was too wet for a floor?

    Help with floor pour issues.

Yep, but hey, adding water is bad. I've actually had do it yourselfers tell me that adding water is bad, like I'm the green one when it comes to concrete.

I think too much emphasis is being put on water being added. There are a lot of other things to consider too that the mix sheet isn't going to tell you. Take this for what it's worth coming from a guy that batches and sells concrete, but we generally know if something is "off" before the truck...

Most of our plants batching software will print this info on the delivery ticket, it's available right there on the job. Do you understand how to decipher it though?

Unless you know anything about mix designs, it really isn't going to make sense to you to look at the mix sheets. They are going to have aggregate weights, cememtitious weights, water, and admixtures in the load. Your best bet would be to find out what the max w/c ratio is of the mix you're...
