Lelandwelds, I gave the stepper to a friend. We have hills across the street that I use :). It was in the way!

The floor still has two days until you are supposed to drive on it. I will post on the weekend. I had a car in there before the epoxy coating. It was great for everything but seeing swirls. Need a point source light, such as swirl finder light which I have.

Yes, when the garage was built in 2005. For once, I did something correct! LOL

Detailing bay makeover with lighting design by Platonic Solid

I should add a couple of points. Although the bay will be used more for rinseless washes and polishing, the lights on the sides (per P. Solid) are sealed behing .030" polycarbonate and the panel frames are well caulked in with a couple of holes in the bottoms of the frames to allow any water...

Detailing bay makeover with lighting design by Platonic Solid

Sometime before Christmas I was lurking on this forum for lighting ideas to turn one bay of a 3-bay garage into a bay for my part-time car detailing business. I want bright even light to replace my flickering fluorescent tubes. Platonic Solid came to the rescue with a design (with a full list...

Detailers Garage Lighting - Layout/Lumens help

Platonic Solid, I would like to publicly THANK YOU for your design and time to produce an incredible result. Going to construction in January; this is one bay of an existing 3-bay garage. I asked for a WOW factor...you delivered big time! Think I will need to put those dimmers to use. LOL...

PS - Sounds like I will take the easy route and use the mounting kits all around. Thanks for pointing out the need for the kits. I will post a before and after photo here. The contractor I have said he can do the project this winter between some other jobs. I am curious what my electrician...

Detailers Garage Lighting - Layout/Lumens help

PS, I assume the surface mount kits could be used for the walls too? In fact, the description at the LightUp site does mention wall applications. I did check out the video at LightUp. The driver is not large; perhaps attach to stud behind the fixture. A near flush placement would look great...

Detailers Garage Lighting - Layout/Lumens help

PS - WOW! Thank you Sir! This is fantastic. You nailed an incredible light plan. I will go with what you recommend. I assume the illustrations depict contours of lumens on the surface? Looks like even the lower front of the car will have 75-80 which is good. As to your painting...

Detailers Garage Lighting - Layout/Lumens help

PS - those flat panel LEDs look really good. You recommend many medium lumen output fixtures. That would be the 3250 ones or 4400? I assume the 5000 and 5200 ones are too bright for my application. Jeff

PS - great comments. And I DID miss your instructions on the 100 fc...oops. :). I am in central PA. No A/C in the garage just winter heat. Jeff

Detailers Garage Lighting - Layout/Lumens help

PS - UPDATE. In the Visual Interior Tool program the default lighting fc recommendation is based on only 30 footcandles. The recommendations for body shops I found on-line are 80-120. So, using say 100 fc, the ceiling plan goes up to eight 4 ft. LED strips (5344 lumens, which seems to be on...

Detailers Garage Lighting - Layout/Lumens help

PS - can you ballpark the number of 4 ft. strips for the ceiling and on the walls? I just ran the program from your supplied link. It only call for three 4 ft. strip lights (5500 lumens per strip I think) right down the middle of the long side of the garage bay. I thought is would call for...
