Looks like the old workbenches we had in our field shop (USAF)......Well built and heavy..........IIRC the top was 1" or maybe 1 1/2" square lengths of (probably) maple.................Definitely a great garage bench.......:rocker:
Great table..............Couple of suggestions....
1] Use an auto gas shock to lift/hold up top.....
2] Enclose the open bottom (at least one side) with fiber board/plywood (1/4"-1/2"), etc. to make use of the that space for additional storage......

Had a "square" many moons ago...................Really need Porsche power in it...........Related to that, some group in Germany will build you a Karman Ghia coupe with a Porsche (6) in it........zoom, zoom!:beer:

While in the USAF I work in the field shop (F-105 Radar) at Nellis AFB......
We had numerous work tables and after some serching I found the provider or builder of a clone (????).....These tables were heavy....Had a pressed steel frame and a Maple laminated top..........You might find surplus...
Unfortunately, unless you replace the vintage fan motor you could be looking at high potential fire danger.............An industral fan in the eaves (or similar) is less so........
