I've always wanted one of these and bought one just because of that.
6D Incandescent Maglite.
I was a policeman for over 20 years. We were issued the 3D Maglites until too many people used them as a baton. We were then issued plastic Streamlights. Those were terrible as a baton.
It was absolutely no trouble at all with Maglite. Just went to their webpage, looked up warranty and sent an email. They responded the next day and I mailed it off. When they received the lights, they sent me an email and when they shipped back the lights, I got another email with a tracking...
Pretty neat thread!
I'm not a huge collector of anything "new" but love to find old Maglites or angle head lamps at flea markets and get them working again. It's basically the same thing I do with collecting vintage tools.
I actually found my deceased Dad's Maglite a few months ago...
I posted this in the adjustable wrench thread, but the Crescent (bottom one) has the Pat. Pending, the long address and seems to have very large jaws compared to the others. For some reason, I can't get to the Alloy Artifact page from my work computer- any help in figuring out an idea on the...
Three new ones this past weekend. Crescent, Utica and William's. They were so rusted that I couldn't read any names on them and cleaned up well. The two 6 inch are locked up good. Any help on how to get them unstuck? Tried WD40 and tapping the jaw loose with a hammer and small bolt, but they...
Hey All,
When Craftsman/Sears were in their hay-day, did they have a factory where they made their tools? I'm just curious if they made them in house or always contracted them out to other tool makers?
My toolboxes were apparently made by Waterloo but what about ratchets and wrenches, etc?
Don,
Thanks for this. Out of my meager adjustable wrench collection (maybe 12) mine has the worst lock up of any of them- but the thick steel style is easily the best to hold and grip. Of course, it was used and abused when I got it, but just the handle is making it close to carry in my pocket...
I'd like to grab a true set of screwdrivers. Everything I have now are just a mixed bundle of stuff I've bought and was given. I gotta say, the nostalgia of having screwdrivers like I grew up with is playing into the idea of a Craftsman set- but the prices aren't bad and I've had great luck with...
New acquisitions to my USA adjustable wrench collection from the local flea market. My first Crescent brand and first Proto. I've got a JH Williams but this one is slightly different and I wasn't going to leave it there for $1.50.
I have Craftsman USA ratchets in the house but my SK ones are the ones that get used all the time. I like both but just trust the SKs for "real" work.
I've also been really impressed with my Stanley USA adjustable wrench but it's the only one I have so I could have just gotten lucky.
Stopped by the flea market on the way to Harbor Freight to get my free tool today and had much better luck than last time trying to start a collection of USA made adjustable wrenches.
Top is JH Williams Superjustable
2nd is a Crescent Tool Co.
3rd is a Challenger by PROTO Clik Stop.

I don't know when he got it and I haven't found the larger ones (usually sold in a set) but it has worked well for me so far. I like the idea of adjustable pliers, would it be worth looking into the Knipex brand? So far, for my occasional use, these work great. Any comments on these? They're...
