Looks good! From all accounts Rust Bullet is a really good surface too. I think the third coat really makes a difference.

No reason for the staggered pattern except for personal preference. My view with grout lines is that you either try to blend them in with the tile, or accentuate them. I like the tile I got, and as I've said it was priced well, but they are a little on the bland side compared to more expensive...

I have a 850sf garage I'm getting tiled right now... materials are in, tile guys come out on Saturday. Hopefully it will be done by the middle of next week. I found tile at $0.67/sf at Lowes, but I wasn't being too picky either with color or size. The tile option is not going to be cheap...
