How bad of an idea is this design? (70x30 two story)

You could run an incineration toilet (https://www.homebiogas.com/blog/incineration-toilets-guide/). Add it after the building has had the inspections done.

What Are the tongs on the right used for?

Ice tongs for sure. When we brought our place, there was still a pair hanging in the old ice house. Do not know about the pole.

    Welding on a fridge?

If there was an issue with the door sealing in the repair area, maybe a thin layer of body filler or fiber glass or even JB Weld that you sand smooth.

    Best engine degreaser

Oven cleaner has worked well for me on engines and other large parts that I can then hit with a pressure washer. Simple Green works well and I have also used brake clean and carb cleaner for getting into tight places where oven cleaner and water can not be used and I do not care about paint.

    Brought a Lathe

Sounds like it could have been a heck of a deal at that price.

    Brought a Lathe

I believe that your understanding is correct. Right now with the way my power lead screw is rigged up, it would work fairly well to turn the diameter of a part but the power cross feed is not in the correct direction. A bit of a pain but not impossible to work with as I can run the cross feed...

    Brought a Lathe

OK, the Mustang project is a 1965 coupe that I picked up to build into a road race/autocross car. I have been doing autocross, open track and some time trials for close to 30 years in an 84 Mustang. I have always wanted an early Mustang track car and I picked this one up to turn into my race...

    Outdoor Air Compressor Enclosure

Thanks for the input guys, I always try to kill the power to mine when I am not in the shop (I do some times forget). My enclosure will be just outside the wall of the shop, so I am guessing that I may still be able to hear it somewhat. Cobbler, good to know that yours held up in an...

    Outdoor Air Compressor Enclosure

I am thinking about building a small enclosure outside of my shop to house my air compressor to get me a bit more floor space and to cut down the noise in the shop (maybe 3x4 or 3x6 in size). One question I have is, would I need to do something to condition the air in the enclosure (living in...

    Brought a Lathe

Thanks! It does have what I think are the original legs, wood base and shelf (the base has a nice beveled edge on it). The wood looks well preserved by 70 plus years of oil. It may have the original motor on it also as it has an Atlas name plate on it (could have been rebuilt a time or two)...

    Brought a Lathe

BombShelter, Thanks for your comments. I had heard that the Atlas lathes were nice units and I was happy to find this one even with the reverser issue. The rest of the machine is solid and it should do what I want. At some point I may even give it a paint job.

Here are a couple of better photos of the lathe. If anyone is interested, in the background is my about 70% done 1965 Mustang wide body road race car project. The car will be used for time trials, open track events and SCCA CP class autocross. The car is pretty much a complete custom build...

    Brought a Lathe

I took the photos at the guy's place where I brought it. The lighting was not that great. I will try to get some better shots of it in my shop.

Generator - Way way too many options to choose from, please help

After feeding a 5500 watt gas generator for 9 days after a major summer storm went thru my area, we have put in a 22kw Generac whole house generator that is on its own propane tank (500 gal). As we are on a well and need to run a sump pump at times, the whole house system gives us a nice peace...
