I think I used heavy duty lag screws to mount the recessed octagon mounting/dress plate (bought separately). The screws supplied with the light are beefy enough that I just used those from the base plate into the octagon mounting housing. I used a small reciprocating saw to cut out the siding...

Got some protective epoxy floor put down this past weekend.
I put down 2 coats of the Rustolium Epoxyshield (tan); Did first coat with no flakes and let it dry overnight. Then next day I did another coat this time with the paint chips for decoration.
