    Winchester Tools

I think Remington Cutlery Division ran from 1920 to 1940 What does PAL stand for? Winchester's woodworking tools were probably made by Sargent, rebadging their own tools.

Hi,Lug. My uncle worked in Remington's cutlery division from its beginning to to its end. As you say, knives saved some jobs in the thirties. Olin bought Winchester Repeating Arms in 1931. I started at Olin in New Haven in 1971. I was told that Winchester-labelled hand planes and some other...

Unusual Wooden Box From The Late 1800s

That cabinet looks too nice to be from HF. I don't remember seeing drawers with milled box corners on the HF machinist's box.

    Winchester Tools

Winchester made ice skates, knives, wood planes, flashlights, and sporting goods. Remington Arms made pocket knives at their Bridgeport, Conn. plant between WW1 and WW2. My Dad and one of his brothers worked at the plant, and told me that these and other non-gun products were made to keep the...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

I may be wrong on this, but I've never seen a gerstner with a locking latch .that was hinged on the chest. The locking latch hook that pulls the lid down to the chest on my gerstner is hinged on the lid. It's also spring loaded to keep it up out of the way when I'm using the box. The one in...
