    Is garage lust dead?

I feel that while things tend to happen in cycles there is by no means any rigid law mandating it. My observations have led me to believe the world population is in a great funk, an epic spans of nothing special many decades long that has led to global ennui. Having grown up in the 70s,80s &90s...

    Is garage lust dead?

Having built a totally awesome heated/ cooled workshop in the backyard we were confident when it came time to sell our home we would have a leg up on the competition.Long story short, not the case. There was absolutely no interest in the brand new, discreet workshop in the back with the lift. In...

Who has best prices and tech help for minisplits im goin diy route

We have had good luck over the past year with our DIY Pioneer from HighSEER out of FL. I paid about $600 for everything shipped. If you can bring in 240v you are much better off, I settled on a 30amp circuit toward the end of my build but later regretted it when I went looking for a mini split...

Need help deciding what type of lift to get, asymmetric or symmetric

I have a Challenger Versymmetric lift that has been able to lift cars as small as a rabbit and Corolla and as as large as a GMC 2500 Xcab and MB S-Class LWB with no problem.

    New HF code readers.

FWIW I tried the scanner on a 2000 BMW, 96 Mercedes s420, 07 Saturn Vue, V6, 08 Scion. I decided to return this item today and the experience was every bit as horrible as I expected. Even though the product simply did not work at all as advertised and the support site did not exist the manager...

    New HF code readers.

Wanted to mention the support site zurichdiagnostics.com directs you to the Harbor freight main site, where you can spend your money on some more ****, it's laughable!

    New HF code readers.

I bought the HF zr13 a few weeks back however I cannot recommend it at all. Out of 3 cars it only provided live data on 1, supported enhanced dtc reading on none, SRS & ABS diagnostic on only 1 car and appeared only as a generic storage device when I hooked it up to my laptop to update. It told...

    Garage walls and insulation

I normally only double up the vapor barrier in a living space where there is a lot of warm, humid air, however tacking a sheet of poly up on the other hand is cheap and helps kill that last bit of air propagation into your building.

how should I have vaulted ceiling insulated?

We also used 4/12 scissors trusses and left our vaulted ceiling open. Because I want the highest possible ceilings to accommodate our lift and collect warm air in the summer months I'm only going to insulate between the trusses. Rigid foam is easiest but expensive. I mean this is an accessory...

Narrowed it down to 2 heaters.. Now which one..

I just returned a 240v heater identical to the beige one. On a dedicated 50amp circuit Its output was pathetic in a ~45 degree shop. Set to full blast I could easily hold my hand in front of it from 2 feet away all day. The fan had no shroud so it just flung the air out of every hole and crevice...

    Garage PC $200-300 budget

I'm running a used Dell Optiplex 780 I got from an industrial liquidation sale for $10.Per usual it needed a hard drive which I scored on e-flay loaded with Windows, chrome, and a bunch of applications for $29. So far its been awesome, my friends roll their eyes with jealousy every time I look...

    Heating My 24x35 Shop

We toyed with the idea of temporarily hanging large sheets of cheap poly from the bottom of the trusses to keep the heat from filling the peak of the roof. We also considered installing rigid foam insulation between the trusses on the backside of the roof decking. We have a lift so sheet rocking...

    Heating My 24x35 Shop

That sounds a lot like our shop, I have to agree that the lack of insulation in our ceiling (open rafters) hurts us in the winter. In the summer the very well insulated 6" walls keep the place cool and dry for a day after turning off the heat pump which is what we use for primary heating &...

    wood allergy

That's funny, I was going to say that the very strong and distinct scent of cut oak is overwhelming. I have had clothing smell like oak for 4x wash cycles & it irritates my skin if I'm not good about scrubbing it off with lots of soap.
