    Trying not to get robbed

When I am at home... my alarm is in "at home" mode which means if I do anything stupid or someone attempts to gain access from outside all hell breaks out. I also have a panic mode disengage which means if someone is holding a gun to my head and demands I turn the alarm off... sure no problem...

    Trying not to get robbed

Get your security system 24/7 monitored. Setup timers such that lights in different areas come on at night. Leave a radio or TV playing... perhaps also on a timer to come on during the evening. Have your mail picked up or held. Install security doors over entrances and 3M film on the...

I have the wall units, workbench and a few feet of the track that I am quite happy with... I just don't talk about it much.

Need advice on fixing a sagging/drooping roofline

Not enough structure supporting the span and after 40 years the bow is set well in place. Get an engineer to determine out what is needed for remedy and follow that recommendation. BTW, while you are at it make the garage bigger! :)

    Floored!

Abel's Dinner near 3009 in Schertz? Yes, it is still operating... just down the road from the office here.

    Floored!

When I consider freeflow tiles I find it to be an issue with small parts landing under the tile. Sure one can remove the tile, use pliers or a magnet but I am sure that gets old after a while for those who regularly work in their garages. Also, when fluids spill such as oil, paint, etc it is...

Opinions on garage flooring- concrete, epoxy, racedeck

OP, I feel the pain of your decision making process here. I have had my new garage for a year now and for a year been mulling over the various flooring choices with still no firm choice having been made. For some reason the idea of putting down a sealer from Legacy Industrial keeps...

LED Tube lights in flourescent fixtures questions

My garage is about 20 x 20 with 6 duplex outlets in the ceiling. The original plan was for fluorescent fixtures; however, I decided to experiment with LED bulbs. Put up 5 of these...

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

When I was a college student I once drove a vehicle 50 miles with no coolant in the radiator and wondered why I had to scrape frost off the inside of the windshield. This was during a cold winter which is likely the only reason there was not a complete meltdown under the hood. It never dawned...

How old is 'too old' for career change?

When I was your age I was in the process of a career change that did not quite work out... but it was an experience. I also experienced age discrimination and although I do not look my age heard a lot of "you are not what we were expecting" which was code for you are older than we expected...

Copper work bench - protective coatings?

Copper will naturally tarnish after some time and turn a greenish color. Those with copper roof generally leave them weather. http://www.copper.org/resources/properties/protection/clear_finishes.html

    Sears... Gladiator

Ugh! I never seem to catch those $99 sales when they come through. Ah well, I will just keep them if I determine they are not dented this evening.

    Sears... Gladiator

No, not another one of "those" Sears threads. Sears have specials on the Gladiator garage items right now. I picked up 3 - 30" wall cabinets for $159 regularly $240. It was busy in the tool section there this morning with folks actually purchasing items.
