larry ..thanks for the welcome .i know it's long shot but .i'm hoping to find another owner of an old arbor press with this collar ....i'm going with the pointer to indicate depth idea ..thanks paul
jake thanks for the idea ..i would agree that the spacer was there to move bad teeth to good teeth but there's a grove machined into the pinion shaft ..the groove would be unnecessary machine work ....
i recently purchased this very old circa 1900 no3 greenerd press.there is a knurled collar around the pinion shaft between the lever and the main casting .has anyone else seen this collar before ? what's the purpose ?
the collar has a screw installed ..the screw rides in a groove that is...
