ok but I haven't found a picture of the 5198 you are talking about. lots of other vice pictures. where might it be? there are 15 pages of thread here. I don't know why sears would use the same model number 5198 on two different vice designs. that's confusing!

oh, ok. So this is only for the craftsman labelled 5198 then? Those are different than the Dunlap 5198 I have, even though both were Rock Island made? Can you show a photo of the 5198 you are interested in? Im curious on the differences.

Looks like mine is missing the wire cutter? From the saddle where it plugs in the top? Where could you find one of those? I found an identical dunlap vise that just sold on eBay for about $100 plus shipping. Only sold 5198 that came up.

If one does get the 24 inch bar husky or the echo above 24, should use a skip chain to maintain good speed, i was surprised how good the 590 is skip at 32 inches. Echo maxes it out at 27 inch i think, but it can do much more. Ported and muffler modded increases power a good 15 to 20 percent...

Much much better is an echo cs590 timber wolf. Can be had on a 30 percent off sale from zoro on occassion. Ive run a 32 inch bar on mine milling hardwood logs, 59 cc saw! Torque beyond belief. Speed still 70 percent at 32 inches vs 20. Ive cut 40 inch diameter trees with it too felling. Paul

Well I hate to say it, but in my store where they don't bother to remove old sale signs for two weeks, then stock those spaces with nearly the same alternate stuff by same mfr, never on sale, and leave the sale signs up, so you are fooled, I prefer the 11%. At least I get some kind of sale...
