    Switch Distance from Shower

Thanks for linking the inline splices, those would make it easier. The tube post is 7/8" diameter x 3 3/4 long. I'm sure having 3 mounting points will more than hold it, i was concerned about it rattling without the 4th post being secure, but it should be fine as long as nobody pulls on that...

    Switch Distance from Shower

I saw the hard wire instructions, but looks easier said than done, they didn't leave much room. Drilling the hole for the wires right next to the mounting knob while simultaneously running the wires into the center of the mounting knob seems like it would compromise the screw holding the...

    Switch Distance from Shower

To put in on a timer, so its not on 24/7 and dont need to remember to turn it off

    Switch Distance from Shower

If I pull off the load side of the GFCI to the switch, wouldn't the GFCI receptacle have power all the time, and not be switched? Other way I thought of is to change the receptacle that I plan to pull power from in the adjacent room to a GFCI. Adjacent room GFCI ---> timer switch ----> towel...

    Switch Distance from Shower

Is there a min distance a wall switch needs to be from the shower? I want to install an electric towel warmer on the wall next to the shower, and put the timer switch on the same wall, just above the towel warmer - this would be on the 30" wall in the picture. For the wiring, I plan to pull the...

    Getting into Solar

I do plan to get with the power company and city before buying, just trying to learn the different equipment so I can take a plan with me, also trying to figure out the most cost effective way to install everything with what I have. I saw that my power company lists that they approve the use of...

    Getting into Solar

I'm learning all about solar to make a grid tied with battery back up system, and checking to see if my thinking is right on the wiring between the meter and inverter I have a Siemens 200A combo meter Load center MC20240B1200EFC, the inverter and battery would need to be mounted about 70' aways...

    Breaker feeding Disconnect for HVAC

I think i like the non fused disconnect over the switch since I can see the actual air gap, or not accidentally bump the switch on without realizing it. I found this one on HD: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Halex-60-Amp-Non-Fusible-Metallic-AC-Disconnect-HNF60R/205785642 Since it's 120v, do I...

    Breaker feeding Disconnect for HVAC

Thanks everyone. The system plan has been changed up to a Diakin DFVE60, which is 120v, wanting a 20 amp breaker. Any suggestions on what to use for disconnect in the attic? Is it as simple as using a single pole light switch mounted by the unit? Or use a cord to a receptacle?

    Breaker feeding Disconnect for HVAC

Here is the spec sheet. I guess the quick discount would be two 15 amp fuses, not 30. I can keep the lights on a different circuit, the attic lights are only two 24" Leds

    Breaker feeding Disconnect for HVAC

I'm getting a new heat pump system, and the air handler in the attic wants 240v 15amps. Space is at a premium in my main panel so I need to use a triplex breaker, but I'm having trouble finding a 20-15/15-20 Siemens breaker. I can find a 20-20/20-20 triplex breaker no problem. A 30 amp (two 15...

    Dust collector/filtration

I'm getting ready to rip out about 25' of a tile counter top and back splash in the kitchen. Trying not to make a mess of the house, any recommendation on an air filter/collector unit to help keep dust from going everywhere? I plan to hang sheeting to confine it to the kitchen (plus wear PPE for...

    Bathroom Venting

The current one is only rated for 70cfm. The new remote mount fantech is 100cfm so I will need to run separate ducts, thank you.

    Bathroom Venting

The current vent fan is ridged semi flex 4" duct, running straight to the outside wall about 3-4' away. It is close to the wall, so adding in a wye splinter might be tight.

    Bathroom Venting

My bathroom is ~7x7 with the door/walk way in the middle, vanity & toilet on one wall, and shower on the opposite wall. I'm having a problem with mold and mildew on the top wall opposite of the shower head. After a shower, it's obvious thats where moister gets trapped. I currently have a...
