Having done a few water pumps on that era of Ford. Both the water pump and heater bypass tube have o rings. I would recommend taking a wire wheel to the bypass tube where it inserts into the water pump. Clean it up nice and shiny. It makes it easier to insert it back it. Take your time...

Check with your local roofing supply company ie Allied supply or ABC supply. Should have them by the pound or by the box.
