Tools you always had but never used

I have one made by Vaco that I have used a few times. Case IH machines are full of smooth round-head slotted fasteners that are a pain to get off. They aren't carriage bolts (like John Deere machines use) and typically just spin if you try to get the nut off from one side. In tight areas where...

Items Under $50 that Improve your Garage Experience

Paint markers!!!! Get yourself a pack of 7 or 8 colors so you can mark what plug, wire, nut, hydraulic line, etc goes where after it is removed for maintenance. This way you can avoid the usual "is this the right _____ that goes here?" when you go to put something back together. You can get...

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

I live closer to Utica despite my "Central New York" tag here on GJ that typically suggests the finger lakes region. I regularly travel that corridor of the finger lakes because I attend College in that region. As for the rt 90 sale, I have been told it is a fun weekend event, but I have never...

Thank you for the new direction! I'll be doing some research tonight then. Another rabbit hole to dive into hahaha!

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

Let me rephrase. From what I can remember, these all showed signs of chrome plating. I can say for certain that the top wrench (2812B) and bottom 3 wrenches (2808B, 2807, 2806) had splotches of chrome on them. There wasn't much to save of that original finish

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

Here's a couple pictures I just took: My grandfather was never the best at taking care of his tools. These were all caked in rust with small splotches of chrome plating when I found them. There was so much rust that "BONNEY" was barely legible. I wire brushed all of these wrenches to remove...

    Spreading the Bonney affliction!

    So I posted a couple of these wrenches a while back, but my Bonney DBE collection has grown significantly since then! Here's what's been found around the farm so far: 5/8 x 9/16 2806 3/4 x 5/8 2807 25/32 x 11/16 2808B 7/8 x 11/16 2808D 7/8 x 3/4 2808 15/16 unknown number 1 1/16 x 7/8 2811E 1...

    Show your DBE Ratcheting Wrenches!

Wow this information is great and really clears things up! I was just searching through datamp trying to figure some of this stuff out as you posted this. I'm familiar with Lang Tools and their specialty products but I never realized their connection to the ratchet wrench

Happy to share! :) Do you know what in particular about the laminated style ratchet wrench people dislike? I assume the bulkiness of certain brands may have driven people away from them.

    Show your DBE Ratcheting Wrenches!

So here are my Powr-Kraft DBEs that I currently have on me in my truck bag. The bigger one is a 3/4 x 7/8 and the small one is 5/8 x 11/16. They both have 84-4738 marked on them which I assume is to signify the set number. I only acquired them at the beginning of this year and they are in dire...

    Show your DBE Ratcheting Wrenches!

Hello there! I don't believe GJ has a DBE ratcheting wrench forum, and I feel like it deserves a small home here! I tried finding histories of ratchet wrenches on other sites but it seems like there just isn't a lot of information out there about these really handy tools! So a few things I...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

So here is a No. 1 Vulcan chain vise that I bought for $20 off FB marketplace. The thing is in amazing shape & works like a charm. I don't have much information about it, but I felt that I should post it here for people that might appreciate seeing it

    2021 Garage Sale Thread

It's funny because I actually found the wrench a week ago in that antique store. That same day, I read through your lugzonian thread (I love your collection btw) and I saw it hung in your curator's corner. I did more research and found the thread that you just linked as well. That's what...
