Craftsman 5Gal AirCompressor does not go over 20lbs psi

Good evening to everyone that helped out and posted to assist/advise on the issue I was having. I finally got to use my air compressor yesterday. It works as you would expect from a 31-year-old compressor. PCustom’s thank you very much for your input and advice. Except I went against it...

OK. Thank you for the advice. I will look into that.

I am pretty sure I understand what you were saying. I will see if I can pick up a 2 pole 20 amp breaker on Sunday. And if I cannot convince anyone, I know to come over and give me a hand. I will see if I can get anyone’s attention on here to make sure I am doing it properly. Thank you very much...

The electrician that I hired to put in the electric panel. Who is also a coworker. And yes, I have a cheap little multimeter.

Yes, I have plenty of room. I only have four breakers in that panel as the panel was just added for a future service upgrade.

I thought about doing what you recommended here. But I would be unsure of what to do with the third leg at the switch. Also, what to do with the wiring from the switch to the motor since it is only a two wire feed from the switch to the motor.

I only have four breakers in this electrical panel in my garage. I had the panel put in as a step in preparation for a future service upgrade. In addition to getting the proper receptacle for this air compressor I’ve had sitting around for a couple years. (the reason it’s been sitting is...

So I took a couple covers off and going to post some pictures of how it is currently wired and maybe this will help? I know I am certainly confused. Just looking at the dirt and debris that was on here before I cleaned it up a bit for the pictures. Looks like it has been wired like this for...

My mistake. I see the difference in the receptacles now. The spacing between the legs is greater or wider than the spacing between the legs on the 120 V. By the way, did I tell everyone I’m not an electrician? As I said before, I am learning as I go, and I appreciate everyone’s input.

I had an electrician do the wiring and installation of the receptacle for me. But I will pull the cover off and take a picture of it and send it just so everyone can see. Quite frankly, I didn’t watch him wire it, so it will be new information for me. And so everyone knows I killed power before...

Couldn’t it also be a Nema 5-20P? The T-shaped side of the receptacle could accept a vertical or horizontal leg of the plug. This is the plug on the motor right now.

I have read that on quite a few posts on here in the past 24 hours or so. I’m learning as I go. Thank you for the info.

Outlet is just below breaker panel. Unsure on wire size. I had an electrician install outlet while installing a new breaker panel. No I am not sure that the 5 hp motor can be wired to 120. I received the compressor in its current condition. I have no history or info on its previous owner or...

Sorry for the confusion. I was just trying to put as much info on my post as possible. I just wanted to add that it is wired to run on 120V. Not 240.
