30 ft away from house. its direct. Lawn. I will put a 100amp sub panel, this seems to make most sense for future proofing. I also reached out to a local electrician and he is willing to consult on the project and oversee it.

Thanks for this! I wasn't aware that I couldn't buy a 60amp panel. So I get a 100amp panel and but a 60amp breaker in my main in the home. 1.25" electrical conduit pvc, got it! When mounting the panel inside the shop is there anything special requirements there? I will definitely look into...

Are you suggesting this wire combo because it's the easiest approach or most cost effective? Isn't there wire that already has the 4 wires inside? Just trying to understand the why. Thanks!

Panel is not that old. Alot of the wiring in the home has been updated in recent years. It's a smaller home with just me and my wife. No kids. We heat with wood and backup oil. No pool or hot tubs for us.

Yes. My inspector for the home said it's not safe to be left as it's deteriorating and not to code. The inside portion of the home before it exits the basement wall is fine though. I would likely run a new wire from the main though.
