Cheating on Copper with PEX! ??

I’m building an apartment on a slab. The water line coming out of the slab is CPVC. I started to plumb with CPVC but I hate the stuff as I’m used to copper. Anyhow, I’m looking at a pile of Uponor PEX tubing and fittings that will replace the CPVC after the main water shut off valve. My...

Workbench Top Ideas - Oily, drippy, sloppy, messy stuff...

When I was in college, I worked for a sheet metal shop that did mostly restaurant kitchens. We installed a lot of stainless steel counter tops. They were “glued” to the base with silicone caulk. Works well, lasts a long time.

    Legacy Full Flake floor, again.

It seems I can’t stay away from this stuff...... Last fall, I was fortunate to be able to purchase a 60x60 building. When I made the deal, I couldn’t see the actual floor due to the amount of stuff the previous owner had. Needless to say, the concrete was in less than spectacular condition...

    Dust collection for concrete grinding

Scotty speaks the truth! I’m in the grinding phase now on another floor. I use a Dustless brand shop vac and a Dust Deputy on a 5 gallon bucket to capture most of the dust. Along with a shroud on my angle grinder, I find that there is next to no dust in the air. BTW, don’t mess around with...

    Floor, pre coating questions

I’m in the process of buying a 60 x 60 building. One of the first things that will happen is to coat the floor. I’m planning on Nohr-s. While looking around today, I came up with two questions. 1. The prior owner put down some sort of floor coating. I’d estimate about 150 square feet in...

Lets talk ceiling fans for the shop

To answer the OP, I installed a 96" Big Air fan in my hangar a couple months ago. I'm honestly underwhelmed and I probably wouldn't do it again.

    Legacy Floor V2.0

It’s been four years since I put this floor down in my garage and I thought I’d post an update. This is a car/pickup parking garage and not a “shop” but the floor is still like the day it was put down. Zero tire lifting. Truthfully, I don’t do much at all to maintain it. A couple times a...

Cabinet for Small Parts Storage Cases

Thanks for the compliments y'all. Lets see if I can answer some questions. The paint process. I sanded the wood to a 220 grit finish then rolled and brushed on a Sherwin William version of Kilz (Oil based) as a primer. I put two coats of this on, sanding between coats. Then I sprayed the...

Cabinet for Small Parts Storage Cases

Has it really been almost three and a half years since this thread was started. I knew I was slow..... SOJ, I don’t know whether to cuss you or hug you. When you posted your parts cabinet, I immediately knew I had to have something similar. What is it they say about imitation? Anyhow, I...

    Craftsman 103.24280 Bandsaw refurb.

I bought this bandsaw about 5 years ago off Craigslist, when I lived in Florida. It worked but it was cosmetically rough and not that good at cutting either. It sat in my hangar and got used very occasionally. When it came time to move to Georgia, I dismantled it and crated it up for the...
