Old style machinist tool chest handles

Are you looking for replacement handles? Gerstner still sells theirs. https://gerstnerusa.com/product-uses/all-hardware/ Edit: dug up some pics. Yeah I see what you are talking about now. I doubt the J stands for Jennings either. Nice handles though.

WTB Goodell Pratt 485 or 585 grinder in good condition

Ended! WTB Goodell Pratt 485 or 585 grinder in good condition Edit: Ended up finding a Luther 104. 30:1 gear ratio, similar to the 485. Looking for a Goodell-Pratt 485 or 585 grinder in working condition. Would prefer to have guards and/or attachments, but not a pre-requisite. Not concerned...

    Purpose built C-Clamp - What's it for?

I hope you don't mind, I posted this on a Facebook vintage tool identification group, and the consensus seems to be that they are lantern holders for a boat (or camper presumably).

    Purpose built C-Clamp - What's it for?

Closest thing Google gives me is a camper clamp for those truck bed style campers.

Miller Falls Grinder Won't Give Up!

This might be a better way to say it. If you were just now putting the cup on, and you put a wrench on the nut, and held the wrench still, and ran the grinder, it would tighten the nut. I don't recommend you physically do that, this is a mental exercise only. Edit: I try to avoid just saying...

Miller Falls Grinder Won't Give Up!

Grinder rotates in opposite direction of thread pitch, standard for all rotational tools.

    H.D. Smith Company, Plantsville, CT

He paid $1200 for a HD Smith chisel. Serious collector. Gotta admit, it's a beautiful collection.

    Peck Stowe and Wilcox

The ones with a lot of taper are for drilling wood. The ones with a more modern looking taper are for metal. Edit: my pile of 8 "bitstock twist drill bits" thank you for the correct term, were all for metal.

    Peck Stowe and Wilcox

Comica app for android. It's free. Got it for the photo filters, kept it for the comic book panel options and captions. It just keeps everything clean and interesting looking, and I don't have to upload 5 different photos to show detail shots. Edit: and it's easy to use. Just select the "multi"...

    Peck Stowe and Wilcox

Okay, the pile of bits was the main reason I got it. The fluted drill bits are near impossible to find, as most got the square tapered shank cut off for use with more modern equipment.

    Much obliged.

    The Original "Cordless" Drills

In that situation, I'm reaching for the electric drill. I like hand powered tools, but I have limits.
