Quality of Premium brands but made in China?

I know Bosch argues that their tools are made in the same factories, just the ones in China, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia etc are staffed by those earning less than a buck an hour vs European labor costs. Most of these cheap countries can produce any product to any level of quality that the...

Dual-Battery Adapters - Why didn't they catch on?

They are in series -> 36V, ah stays the same. If it is a standard brushed motor, 36V is a waste of time. I would much prefer brushless and 18V. Where the difference will be is if they are brushless and 36V (which some of the makita garden range is but not their worksite tools). Then I...

Went to Aldi to buy milk and came home with a Drill Press.

What state are you in? The current catalog doesn't have this in Sydney. Wouldn't mind picking one up.

Milwaukee M18 Fuel "One Key" Tools

Does the app sync data with milwaukee? I could see the data being ammunition for warranty claims being denied. I will buy a new impact driver. Probably not the bluetooth, maybe an old model if I can get a good price.

    Irwin Bolt-Grip = ****

I paid $50 for my set. Australian pricing and needed it to get my car back on the road. The 17mm worked flawlessly. Have reached for it twice since and it has done the job both times which is better than reaching for the grinder :) I have a vendetta against irwin driver bits, maybe the china...

I finally bought a set of wood chisels

People get caught up on how many tools you need (me included). Chisels, mallet and a handsaw are plenty enough to make beautiful stuff. Add an oil stone and wd40 for sharpening and rust prevention and suddenly you have a workshop.

Can the Mil. M18 charger charge a M18 & M12 at the same time?

Nope. Sequential Charging only. Edit: You should be able to put both on and have it complete one, then the other.

anyone else find the machining on the NWS - Irwin pliers to be pretty damn horrible

Got pictures of the crappy coating. These were not actually as bad as some of the other pairs of pliers the store carried, most of which have been sold (or stolen:dunno:).

    Impact Driver vs Impact Wrench

An impact wrench typically has a larger anvil leading to more force. The tradeoff is extra size and weight aren't necessary to drive screws. In both, there is a spring which forces the spinning anvil forward after each hit. This can help push the driver bit forward into the screw to prevent...

anyone else find the machining on the NWS - Irwin pliers to be pretty damn horrible

NWS is carried at a store I work at. All of their pliers have a horrible coating that bubbles, looks like **** and feels rough. I much prefer channellock.
