I thought the button on the back was to serve as a type of anvil. The button is meant to be removable but I could not get it out for the life of me.
Any tips on achieving this would be appreciated.
I don't know what it is with the whole vice thing bet these tools really resonate with me.

I was wondering if anyone can help with a vise I am interested in purchasing.
Firstly it is in quite poor condition. Rust mainly although it does turn.
Secondly I can not find any info about this model of Prentiss. It s a lewis patent no. 917. Jaw width is just over 6"

Just knocked this up over the weekend.
A basic workbench for odd jobs. Unfortunately we don't have a shed - just a carport.
Need to straighten up the cupboards a little and level the bench, but the adjustable feet will make that simple enough (I hope!)
