MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

I have a 24x32, 12' ceiling over the two-car and 18' vault over the 3rd bay. Well insulated all the way around, with a 24k that does absolutely fine. The best thing that I have found is to set the temp and leave it, it's more efficient at keeping temp vs. raising it substantially. SW Ohio temps...

New build mini split: Mitsu vs Mr Cool

I would put it right outside the garage, I have mine in the same location. Mr. Cool 24k DIY. Easy to install, and I love it.

Is Mr cool considered low end (split sys) by pros?

I love my Mr. Cool DIY 24k, it's amazing. I installed it myself last October. The thermostat was bad from the factory, so it froze up the condenser (wasn't tripping the unit to go into defrost mode). A very quick call to Mr. Cool and I had a new thermostat shipped out that same day. A quick...

    Getting garage heater quotes...ugh

That's why I went with a mini-split, it cost me $1,500 installed and also has AC. And I pre-plumbed for a gas-heater (meaning the pipe and electric was already ran to the location). Didn't make sense to spend the extra on a gas heater.

    LiftMaster 8500W vs Chamberlain RJO70

Love my 8500W's, I have two of them.

    Better heat solution under $1000

I'm in SW Ohio, garage is very well insulated, 32x28, 12' ceiling over the 2-car and 18' vault over the 3rd. I installed it in October, I've been running it 24/7 since November, keeping it at 62 (the lowest it will go) and bumping it up to 65-67 when I work. I have nothing bad to say about it, I...

    Better heat solution under $1000

My Mr. Cool 24k was $1,400 installed (by me). Absolutely love it, runs on 220 and comparing last year bill to this one, it's only increased my bill $20/month. My garage is very well insulated, however.

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

I'm on my first season with it, so far it's been in the low 20's and it's doing just fine. It won't get to the singles until Jan/Feb though so I won't know for sure until then.

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

That's exactly what I did with mine. I had concerns that bundling it in the corner could lead to trapped oil, so I serpentined mine down the wall. Doesn't look as clean, but I did not want it on the outside of the house, and my interior walls are finished so inside the wall wasn't an option...

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

So... just checking in, fired mine up for the first time today. I have it set to heat mode, 62* (lowest it will go), with the fan on auto. I'm planning to leave it like this all winter long unless you guys tell me otherwise. Are these settings good? It was beautiful to be able to work in a nice...

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

IMO Mitsubishi is the #1 brand currently. If it's a dedicated system for a house, spend the money and get a good unit, especially a high efficiency model. They are also rated the best (I believe) in cold weather, I think down to -15F.

Mr Cool DIY or Advantage 18k

I didn't care all that much about the seer rating because I won't run mine all the time. In fact, I'll only run it when I'm working in the garage (also my wood shop). I average ~$130 on my monthly utility bill (gas/electric) for the whole house, so we'll see how much it increases over the...
