I am going to start the restoration today. I am not to worried about the exposed screw, because as you stated, I think it will be perfect for my bench. Oh, and the price was right.

I got it to mount on my reloading bench. It is the perfect size. Hopefully I can find out a little more info on it.

Been lurking around here for a while getting as much information as I can on vises. Well I finally picked up a beautiful Monarch that needs some restoration. I will post more in the vise thread. So far this forum seems great and I am looking forward to learning more.
