I sent a broken SK socket to SK on the same day, and already received my brand new replacement yesterday. No questions asked.
The problem of Snap on was that they allowed people to bring in buckets of old tools for new tools. In order to fix that, all Snap on needs to do is to stop warrantying...
Fact 4: That's exactly what I did.
Fact 5: The flat-blade and Torx combination screws are flawly designed. I am sure that i wouldn't have had any trouble turning the screws, if they were either Torx or flat-blade screws.
Fact 1: The latest Snapon TF72 uses screws that can be turned by either a flat-blade screwdriver or a Torx one.
Fact 2: the three screwdrivers I broke are 2 flat-blade electrician mini screwdriver, and 1 mini Torx screwdriver.
Sorry to upset some Snapon fans. Am I anti Snapon? If so, why did I...
Wrong.
I sent them 3 mini screwdrivers a couple of weeks ago. Their tips were broken when I tried to open a new Snap on TF72 ratchet to lube it. All of the screwdrivers were purchased brand new a couple of years ago. All of them looked like brand new except for the broken tips.
I paid...
What truly annoys me are those Snap on tools that I bought brand new many years ago with tossed-away receipts.
As several of you already mentioned, Snap on's mistake is to go from one extreme to the other extreme. There are intermediate solutions to make sure people who do not abuse the system...
I am a DIYer and so far I haven't broken any single of the below Snap on products:
Ratchet,
breaker bar,
socket,
wrench
pliers
ratcheting screwdriver handle
But I had very bad luck with the below Snap on tools:
screwdrivers (esp. the mini ones)
hex bit sockets
torx bit sockets

I will just threw away my Snap on mini screw driver set (made in France). They break like potato chips.
Rule of thumb: sell your Snap on tools quick, before they are worthless.
Snap on just do not get it that what I purchased from them is their warranty and peace of mind. Now they refuse to...
I think I am done with Snap on.
I broke three snap on Mini screwdrivers just to open a Snap on ratchet. I do not see the quality and now I do not see the warranty.
Just feel being cheated. It's a shame!
My broken tools were sent back, and enclosed with a letter saying:
"Any warranty claim that does not include a proof of purchase may be denied and the tools will be returned to you.
Damn, I have been collecting tools for over 20 years. You want me to show you my receipts two decades ago?
The...
Thank you all for the suggestions.
Now I have an idea to avoid flooding. How about converting the laundry room on the first floor into part of the walk-up? Build a staircase inside the basement leading to the laundry room on the first floor. Then install a door to walk outside from the laundry...
Thank you very much for the reply. No, the property is not on a grade, it is on a very flat lot.
Now, I am kind of thinking to back off from the idea of a walk-up, if that means increased chances of flooding. On the other hand, a basement without an exit door does not appeal to people like me...
I am in the middle of buying a to-be-built house. My wife and I are thinking to get the option of "walk-up basement" (a double glass door and a stairwell to go up).
Any ideas on how to design it, so that I do not need to worry that my basement will be flooded during storms?
Thanks.
