Thanks. 1/2" OSB on the outside walls for the siding to hang on. I also wrapped it with house wrap to help seal it up better.

Thanks guys for the compliments. Other than hanging up a couple more things, I haven't been able to finish the inside properly. I have not installed a lift yet either. Right now I have 3 project vehicles and a small enclosed trailer setting in the tall bay sideways. I need to make time to...

the roof pitch is 6/12 on the outside and 3/12 on the inside. Gives me a little over 12' at the peak on the inside. Will be enough for a lift someday. Will just have to be careful if it is a boxy vehicle like a van or a truck with a cap that it doesn't hit the ceiling. The roof metal color...

Drywall done Walls and Ceiling primed with Kilz Ceiling painted with ceiling white Now it is too cold and will have to wait to paint the walls in the Spring. I will go ahead and finish the wiring and move my tools in. It won't be too hard to move stuff away from the walls to paint when I am...

    The Tool Board

I have found this thread very interesting. My garages have never been that big, so the idea of rolling my toolbox "over to the car" was never really something I did because the car was already at the toolbox! And wall space was pretty limited. Now that I am about done with my new shop I am...

Pete... I like the way you did the building with the lean to on each side. I considered that kind of approach to get some of the building with a high ceiling for the lift and the rest of it lower. Then decided on the vaulted trusses on the one end. The doors look nice. You have any pics of...

Thanks for the compliments on the siding. I have done two pole barns with vinyl siding. It definitely takes a lot longer to install than traditional steal siding, but I like the way it matches the house and looks more "stick built" other than the boards below the siding rather than block or...

I did not insulate under the slab. I considered it, along with tube heating the floor, etc. I decided to not do either, partly based on how I plan to use the building. I won't be working in my shop during the coldest parts of Winter. I have my wood working shop in the basement of my house...

I used 1/2" OSB and it worked fine. Could probably use 7/16" as well if you wanted to save a little on the total cost. Also, we used 5/8" OSB on the roof under the metal.

I don't recall how much the 9' door was by itself. I spent just under $2500 for all 3 doors installed. They are Clopays and match my house garage door, insulated, raised panel, etc. Could have saved some and went with another brand, but that was not something I wanted to do since the house...

I was able to get my new doors installed in my interior wall. They are solid exterior doors. I like the way they turned out.

Hi Oilslick, Mine is 6/12 pitch. I have just under 14' at the peak of the ceiling inside. The ceiling is about 12' high, 5 feet each way from the center. Going to 32' will always help. The key though is that I went with a 9' door on that bay and the track follows the slope of my ceiling so...
