Quick question - looks to me like the Tool Shed had a compacted dirt floor. Will grass take root readily in such hard-packed soil? Or will you need to break it up first?
This build continues to be amongst the best - in the top two, actually - that I've ever seen.
Does anyone else know forums where I'd find more of these advanced home builds, as well as garages?
Are there any more shop projects coming up? You two are keeping my dream alive! (By which I mean I'm meticulously noting down the components and designs of your workbenches, especially the heavyweight steel ones, with a view to someday staffing a workshop of my own with them.)
I love the idea...
Well, I was gonna call it 'the Blackmobile' but after working out what the superhero that drives such a machine would be called (hint - racism) I decided to go with the obvious! :D
I was wondering when we were going to see some more aircraft in the thread - and also why you don't keep an ultralight or similar aircraft knocking around in the Auto Shop! This Alaskan bush plane crossed my screen a few days ago, and it's a real hotrod - twin Rotrax 914 turbos (push and pull)...
Having had pet rabbits for a decade or two I can confirm that they just can't get enough of alfalfa - it's like catnip to cats or tools to hobbitss! I was a little alarmed by the suggestion of turning them into dinner, so Chris I'm backing you on this one...
(Our rabbits are backing you on...
I actually think that burying the house up to its windows/doors in turfed lawn would be awesome; think of the insulation you'd get and the resistance to storms! I've always enjoyed 'iceberg' houses that conceal features; my ideal garage would have an aircraft-carrier-style multilevel lift to...
This is gorgeous work on a truly gorgeous home. I've never seen a pool built before - very interesting (though I'm leery of that tight gap between the front of the stools and the wall - looks like it will be hard to clean) and very well-presented - thank you!
How I missed this I don't know, but (a) belatedly subscribed, and (b) definitely consider the turf roof. They work wonders for helping big concrete structures blend in, they're eco-friendly and they save you money. What's not to like?
I love the idea that having now built your original 5 acres to five-star standard you're now slowly sprawling across the countryside, bringing with you powder-coating and excellent carpentry. Are you going to remove the border between your two pieces of property?
