How do you store your electric extension cords?

OMG. 43 years in the entertainment industry… This thread is destroying my OCD. This guy…

Tool for marking holes from edge of material.

I bought one of these several years ago after seeing This Old Tony use one in a video. https://www.leevalley.com/en-us/shop/tools/hand-tools/marking-and-measuring/rules/61607-stop-rules?item=88N8908 by far my most used tool for such purposes, on metal and wood projects.

    lock miter bits

You'll want a router table, and a speed control if your router doesn't have one. The first time I fired one up at about 19,000 rpm, it sounded like a P51 taking off. Shut it off and read the package, it wanted to max out at like 1/4 of that. lol. But yes, it worked really well on 3/4" oak...

https://www.mcmaster.com/products/grinding-wheels/diameter~2/straight-grinder-cutoff-wheels-for-metal-9/ Ive had good luck with these, they last a bit longer than the Milwaukees. McMaster also has the 3”

Need recommendation for sticky back velcro

Never sure what actual brand it is, but I’ve used a mile or two of the “super adhesive“ velcro from McMaster. It’s ridiculously sticky. https://www.mcmaster.com/products/hook-and-loop/super-adhesive-back-hook-and-loop/

    Menards and Masterforce Tools

Last January, I used the 15% bag sale to buy a full set of MidWest brand snips, and they had several sizes of Vaughn American made ball peens at the time. I think they closed the Vaughns out, they were like 50% off or something.

    Thin wrenches?

Working on the Jeep brakes last Sunday, couldn't find my Park 15mm, HomeDepot to the rescue... https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-Thin-Head-Access-Wrench-Set-6-Piece-H6PCTWS/314256097 They worked, decent finish, of course I found the Park later that day, but I'll keep these.

    Need help identifying these tools

Belaying pins are also used on a tie rail, in theaters, in front of the full fly rail. Usually used to tie off cable pages for lighting and set pieces.

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

I was just able to use the Presidents Day coupon, in store, to get 20% off of the 55" roller. Its on sale for $850 right now and they took the additional 20% off the sale price, paid 679.99 total. Of course I have to wait two weeks to pick it up, but for that price I can be patient.

What do you source from Mcmaster Carr?

this stuff... https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/127/934 I make lots of "looms" for audio and video systems at work. McMaster actually has this stuff, known as "tecflex" in our industry, for a lot less than audio and video suppliers sell it for. The fact that its in stock and I get it the next...

Anyone make a "gang box" extension cord end? (I did!)

These guys are the standard in entertainment and touring, they can take some brutal abuse. Serious hardware, seriously awesome people to deal with. They sell both finished systems and components to diy. American made if the matters to you. https://www.oawindsor.com

    1/4" socket spinner with recess?

Tekton has one in their 1/4" sets, although it looks a lot like their American made hard-handle screwdrivers, it isn't mentioned anywhere else on their webpage... https://www.tekton.com/1-4-inch-drive-6-point-socket-and-ratchet-set-skt05101

Finally got a die grinder... Need discs/attachments

https://www.mcmaster.com/grinding-wheels/long-life-quick-change-sanding-discs/ They have the roloc arbors on that page too. The per disk price is cheaper than Milwaukee and last longer.

HD to require tool activation before use

I Just read this too. I wonder if they are going to get access to Milwaukee's OneKey system in tools with it.

"Life before internet and Bidspotter. The old days "

The auctions can still be fun, in the right frame of mind. My girlfriend collects Mid Century "stuff". She goes into auctions, armed with the knowledge of what the dealers charge for the items she's looking for, and be willing to go a bit higher than 50% of that. She actually had one get in her...
