Humidity control: what to do first?

Local dewpoint is going to play a role in whether or not that approach is reasonable. Getting the slab above 75F whilst still attached to the massive heatsink that is the Earth is a bit of a struggle here in MO, not to mention, entirely unpleasant. It looks like the dewpoint up in the UP is in...

Humidity control: what to do first?

I'd run a load calc to determine sizing. When I chose my mini-split, I compiled a spreadsheet to build out a comparison of specs. I went with a Gree unit (basically a non-DIY version of Mr. Cool) and have been nothing but pleased with its performance.

Humidity control: what to do first?

In agreement with everyone else here. I'd take the time/money you would invest into vapor barrier and funnel that toward AC.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

That's one of the good milk crates. :)

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Buttoned up the wiring/vac under the dash, made heater hoses, installed the AC condenser, started trans cooler mounting, figured out how much I'll narrow the rear axle, and generally sweated my **** off in the shop that doesn't have AC. I need to move this car over to the other shop soon. 🥵

Can I plumb two 60 gallon compressors together?

That's the way to go, IMO & IME.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Repaired/restored a couple of parts for the '73 Mustang build that nobody will ever see. The vacuum switch for the heater core valve lost its spring retainer at some point. A little JB Weld and a door rod retainer saved us from spending $50 on a new one. The heater core valve still works...

2026 jackshaft door opener vs conventional

You could set your upper limit at 8' for day to day and just pull the release to raise the door higher for occasional use.

I bought the land, time to stop daydreaming.

Your frost depth and snow load requirements are a bit different, too.

I'm a fan of the panel frame method. https://bblusa.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/BBL_PanelFrame.pdf

    Agreed on both counts above.

    Let's see your toolbox.

I refinished the '67 Snap-On KRA-300B base cabinet a couple years ago to better match the Craftsman mid and top. If anyone has a lead on the drawer I'm missing, please reach out! And I'm wholeheartedly against leaving batteries in any worthwhile tool.

Review - R134A valve core changer (Schrader Valve tool)

I can't say I've ever thought to use spit to check a Schrader valve for leakage. Lol. This is my "go to" when searching for leaks. Detectors are cheap.

Is it feasible to use a dust filter in my garage?

Is this garage open-vented to the outdoors? Curious as to how that much pollen is making it inside the garage. I run home made air scrubbers in my shops for metalwork & woodwork. They are just furnace blower fans with Merv 9 pre-filters and Merv 15 main filters. Likely overkill for your...
