impact vs chrome sockets
Impact sockets are softer then chrome sockets so you could be more likely to damage them with hand ratchets or breaker bars but I would think that to be unlikely.

The complete metric wrench set
15mm is the most common engine oil drain plug size I have seen and 18mm seems to be very common on brake caliper bolts.
