Epoxy the good, the bad, the ugly

How does epoxy hold up long term on a radiant slab? Mine is at 75-80 in the winter (heated) and swings between 50-70 in the summer (unheated). Steve

Ever start losing interest in finishing the garage?

This is the best advice. I started losing motivation the minute I could start using the garage for what it was intended to do. Once I could pull a car in to work on it, my car projects started to displace finishing the garage.

How many of you guys are using a Takagi Jr for a boiler?

I'm installing one right now for my radiant. This will also have a 300 gal solar preheater, so hope not to have to use the Takagi too much. Have one for domestic as well.

    Hello from Middle Earth

It will be corrugated steel (non-galvanized) on the bottom and cedar shakes on the top. Sorry so late to respond! Just about to order the steel. Just finished plumbing and should have elec rough in a a few weeks. Slow progress because we're paying cash. Get a paycheck and head to the...

    Hello from Middle Earth

Thanks Bill - we tried hard to think about what we really needed and how to fit that in with the existing structure, a 900 square foot victorian-like structure built in 1904. Unfortunately, the victorian has been "upgraded" with stucco on some parts and aluminum siding on the rest. One of the...

    Hello from Middle Earth

In Colorado, people talk about the "Front Range" - east of the Continental Divide and the "Western Slope" - west of the divide. The bulk of the population of the Front Range is in the cities Denver/Boulder/CS/and Ft Collins. So "Front Rangers" = city folk. I live in Chaffee County, which is...

    Hello from Middle Earth

Hey - I live in Central Colorado. Just took a picture of my garage in progress and thought I would share. I've been a lurker for quite awhile now. The garage is 22*30 1.5 story. It has 8' doors and 9' ceilings. Would like to have gone wider but setbacks would have been too small. Upstairs is a...

    R-tech OK for under slab?

HoosierBuddy - thanks. The R-tech stuff is ok under residential slabs according to the website. But...went down to Lowe's (100 mi away) and found out that what they advertised as R-tech was Perma-R, which is not rated for under slabs. The manager threw me a bone and sold me 2"*2'*8' Blue Dow XPS...

    R-tech OK for under slab?

I'm getting ready to put my garage slab (22*30) in a few weeks. I've read many posts here and most seem to use blue or pink XPS. I've received mixed information about whether R-tech, an EPS product available at Lowe's, is acceptable. 2"x4'x8' Blue Dow boards are $35 in my area R-tech is 25 at...
