    fiber in concrete then epoxy

I just finished mine and now I wish I had burned off the exposed glass. It looks really good when you squeege the epoxy on, but as soon as you hit it with a roller the glass stands up. By the time I had all the tape removed from the baseboards I was bleeding from half a dozen places. Perhaps I...

    Lighting (again!)

I like CF's and use them in about 75% of the fixtures inside and out of my current house. They last longer and consume less power than an incandescent, but there is a downside. They have to warm up before they will give full output and they take just long enough to warm up that they can be...

The scene from Bullit is still hard to beat. :)

    Building a sucker

Ok, I give. I'm using an AC compressor for OBA on my Wrangler and I can figure out what the washing machine motor is for, but I'm clueless what the truck tire is for.

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

That's exactly what it is. It pulls double duty as a work truck and a weekend warrior. I put about 25,000 miles on it every year. I have 4"x4" back bumper plumbed for air that give me about 1.5 gal of storage with an additional 2 gal tank (not currently installed) inside the frame rails. It will...

    Just finishing up my garage...

It holds up well for years with a yearly coat of stain, but if you slip for a couple of years it will start to disentegrate from the bottom up.

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

Well, my garage is not quite finished. So I don't have a proper compressor yet. You could call my current compressor 'portable'. I belive it has a 190 h.p. engine. The compressor is 10.3 ci which is sorta small, but pressure switch is set to turn off at about 145 psi and all the fittings and...

    Garage Sprinkler Systems?

That is still some big plumbing. Waaayyyy overkill for an average house. Most home fire sprinklers are connected to the domestic water supply which is usually pretty small. The basic components are the same, just smaller and less expensive. I was surprized to find out that it only adds about 1%...

    My measly little space...

It's kind of cramped, but I like it. I've been without a garage for about 15 years so I'd be stoked to have that space. My current work area is about 6'x10' and I share that with a washer, dryer, water heater, and the furnace for the house. I even squeezed a shelf unit in there that has a 2'x6'...

    Garage Sprinkler Systems?

LOL, that's enough water for a serious sprinkler. Most residential sprinklers use the domestic water supply. So 3/4" or 1" plumbing is all that's needed.

    Sandblasting to prep floor

Are you gonna stain the floor yourself? If you are check out http://www.kemiko.com/ for info and supplies. I'm having a pro do mine. They are halfway through and should be finished Monday or Tues. My floor was so FUBAR :wtf: after the house was built that I wouldn't attempt it myself. There are...

    Questions about prep for epoxy

I talked to the guys acid etching the floors inside my house today. They do epoxy floors in garages too. The say to keep the driveway really wet. Put a sprinkler on it or maybe just a helper with a hose.

patch then etch OR etch then patch?

I would patch then etch, so the epoxy gets a good bond to the patch. Wait time varies with the size of the patch. What I gather is anywhere from 24 hours up to 6 weeks. I'm having stained concrete floors put in my new house with an epoxy sealer. I had a patch 3/4" thick by about 4" wide by 6'...

    working copper

I thought the thin copper was good for something like 400 psi for 3/4" and the thick stuff was around 1000 psi. Perhaps I read that wrong.
