Hardly any paint left on the outside though. [emoji31] And yes, I got my Proto and Plomb backwards.

Weekend score: Complete 4700B 1/4” Midget Set. Unfortunately it is a mix of Proto Made in USA and Plomb Los Angeles

Weekend score: Plomb Large Gear Puller with case. Unfortunately missing one jaw 4016. Should come in handy next time I’m having trouble pulling the drums off my Galaxie.

Proto Tools Picture Thread - Post Yours!

I love the detective work on this site! Thanks guys. I couldn’t find catalogs that showed it. Probably right about the tools being dumped out. That little box has been sitting on a shelf for nearly half a century. And will continue to sit in a shelf for a while.

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

It was definitely not used for tools. The original owner lined the top and bottom in leather. Not sure what he used it for. It reminds me of some tool boxes from the ‘70s that had bootleg super bee.

Picked this up at an estate sale today and wanted to know if anyone could fill me in on the history of this tool box. Who made them and when?

Haven’t gotten back to that part yet. Blew it apart and started getting dents out of it. Still trying to figure out what level of perfection I want to shoot for

Need help with Craftsman heritage box - stuck drawers

The problem was indeed the locking mechanism. The bottom cover is supposed to push up on the locking bar when you slide it back. For some reason the cover was not pushing the bar up, hence the drawers were locked in place. You can see in the picture the locking bar is rather bent out of shape...

The catalog says all 8 drawers are lockable via the bottom lock cylinder, could the lock be engaged?
