    Brass punches.

    Brass punches are used when you do not want to mar the work surface, or are disassembling something that would be damaged by a steel punch. If it is that rusty that you would bend a brass punch taking it apart, marring the work surface is the least of your worries.

    Punch holes in 16ga steel?

    Step drills work wonders. Center punch all the holes to make sure you are drilling in the correct spot and then use a hand drill to drill the holes. Clamp the steel sheet to a scrap piece of board.
