Air Compressor Motor 1725rpm vs 3400rpm

Wow! Really great information from all you people. Thanks so much! Going to head to town now to drop the motor off. I’ll keep you folks posted. Thanks again! 🤙🏾 Change the capacitors once already. And blew those up. I had the belts off the Pulley to assure there was no load. So I’m sure it’s...

    Thanks Cobbler👍🏾 Belt info…. Good stuff! 🤙🏾

Thanks micromind, Good to know…. I was wondering why when I measured v-belts they were always off. 🤙🏾

Air Compressor Motor 1725rpm vs 3400rpm

Just looked at my V-belt. The belts I have are type A-77 They sit to deep in the Pulleys. I’m sure I would be better off using type B belts. I’ll use the Raw edge cogged belts as micromind has suggested.

Air Compressor Motor 1725rpm vs 3400rpm

Center of Motor Pulley and center of Pump Pulley is 19” I’m thinking that the V-Belt is a “B” I need to confirm this. My 7” Pulley pic attached.

Air Compressor Motor 1725rpm vs 3400rpm

My Motor (Baldor) is rated @ 31 amps and the other Motor is rated @ 30 amps. If and when I do put the replacement 3400 RPM Motor on the Compressor, with the 4” Pulley. I definitely will take an amperage reading just before and during Cut-out of the Compressor pump. Keep U Folks Posted 🤙🏾 Aloha!

Air Compressor Motor 1725rpm vs 3400rpm

Unloader is fine on both pumps. I know it’s a Motor prob. For sure….. Yes a smaller Pulley will have less surface area for the belt. Thought about that. I new it could be a concern. It’s a double V-Belt Pulley so I’m thinking that should help greatly. I got the Motor off the Compressor, going...

Air Compressor Motor 1725rpm vs 3400rpm

Change the capacitors once already. And blew those up. I have spare capacitors, I will check the motor windings with the rewinding service. I will also leave them with my spare capacitors so they can try to run the motor if it is still good.

Air Compressor Motor 1725rpm vs 3400rpm

Wow…… Didn’t mention the horsepower. But I was doing so well ha ha! 7.5 HP I live in Hawaii. I am in the process of removing the motor and taking it down to Motor Rewinding Service. They give free estimates there. It be nice if it would be a cheap fix.

Air Compressor Motor 1725rpm vs 3400rpm

The NAPA Compressor Pump Max RPM is 900. It is equipped with a Baldor Motor with 1725 RPM Motor and a Service factor of 1.15% This Motor along with the Pulleys drives the Pump at 635 RPMs. This is the Motor that went bad. A New replacement Motor would cost over $1200 to replace it. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤨 I...

VFD For 7.5 HP 3 ph Motor to Run Air Compressor?

Haven’t got a quote yet, but I’ll post it when I do.

VFD For 7.5 HP 3 ph Motor to Run Air Compressor?

I appreciate all your replies. Having the option to run two compressor’s at once poses problems problems with three phase and VFD‘s. Running single phase motors with this set up, doesn’t have any problems. I think I’m gonna stick with the single phase. Just think it’s the sensible thing to do...

VFD For 7.5 HP 3 ph Motor to Run Air Compressor?

I have a selector switch on the compressor that allows me to choose one motor running independently of each other or have them both running at the same time. I don’t think that VFD could handle two 7.5 HP Motors at once. I think it’s going to be cheaper just to stick with the single phase...

VFD For 7.5 HP 3 ph Motor to Run Air Compressor?

My compressors do have unloading valves on them that bleeds off when the compressor stops. Still might be very costly to have VFDs running the Motors. I’m thinking I would need two VFD‘s one for each Motor. I don’t think one VFD could handle two motors. What do you think? Are you a compressors...

VFD For 7.5 HP 3 ph Motor to Run Air Compressor?

I guess the rotary phase converter would be another option, but that would be expensive also. I’ll go and get an estimate on rewinding the single phase motor. Might be cheaper than buying a new one.
