Advice on Ailing 5hp IR Compressor

Ok, so I got impatient a while back and decided to get a 5hp Baldor, a new pressure switch (a SquareD I think) and a mag starter (also Sqd) and wired it all up. I know I jumped the line with my troubleshooting and did a hail mary, but it worked. I was using my die grinder last weekend with no...

Advice on Ailing 5hp IR Compressor

Possibly? I mean, if I start from a full tank and run a tool long enough for it to cycle and then stop to let it catch up, it seems to reach pressure in what I would think would be a normal amount of time (i.e. the pump performance seems reasonably consistent over the last 10yrs, but I could be...

Advice on Ailing 5hp IR Compressor

My shop is kind of dusty, but I wouldn't think its that bad. I used to do some wood working and now I do a lot of grinding to fix my pos booger welding attempts, but I think its reasonable. Also when I pulled the back cap of the motor last weekend, it had what I would call a "patina" of dust...

Advice on Ailing 5hp IR Compressor

I bought it off of Amazon but it was actually sold by Northern Tool back in 2010. I am assuming that it is a true IR and not some kind of "grey market" wannabe, but I guess there is always an option that it could be.

Advice on Ailing 5hp IR Compressor

Sorry for the delay in responding, I just got back from vacation and work is draining me a bit more than normal. I'm attaching pictures of the overall unit and then also of the motor plate (I hope this was what was wanted). For general notes: I had to replace the head gasket like 5hrs ago...

Advice on Ailing 5hp IR Compressor

Hello All, I have a 5hp IR compressor I bought 10yrs ago that will overheat and throw the thermal switch on the motor if I let it run for 10-ish minutes like I did this weekend while using a die grinder mostly non-stop. It's always been like this I think and it is just becoming more of a pain...

Need Picture for Running Conduit from Enclosed Breaker Panel

The wall is 2x4 framed with fiberglass insulation. I need to end up with 6ga THHN for the conduit to handle a 7.5hp motor, could I just run the same THHN into the panel or would I need to run some 6ga Romex between the two and then head out to the conduit with the THHN?

Need Picture for Running Conduit from Enclosed Breaker Panel

Hello All, I have a 20x30 shop with insulated and drywalled walls. I want to run some conduit along the wall (maybe 20-25' line of sight) with some THHN for a 5 or 7.5hp air compressor. This all sounds reasonably straight forward (correct me if wrong) but what I can't figure out is how to...

    BendPak MDS-6LP Scissor Opinions

Ah, man, it had to be set into the floor, didn't it? I have been fighting off the idea of doing that, but your picture looks really nice. That picture gives me just what I needed, thanks!

    BendPak MDS-6LP Scissor Opinions

Cool, thx. Granted, you couldn't drop the ****** very far when we're talking around 40" of lift, but I am hoping I can get a ****** jack under it and then raise it up just enough to pull it out- beats wrestling with it by hand any day.

Do you think you would have room to drop a transmission?

    BendPak MDS-6LP Scissor Opinions

Hi All, I have been searching for some opinions on the Bendpak MDS-6LP Mid-Rise scissor lift and haven't found a lot of what I was looking for so I thought I would ask my own questions. https://www.bendpak.com/MDS-6LP-Mid-Rise-Lift-Open-Center-5175226-BendPak.pdf For background, I have a...

    Armorpoxy Touch-up?

Hi All, I just had my shop drywalled and painted (finally) and I would like to get the floor coated with some Armorpoxy while all of my stuff is still in various storage places elsewhere. Since I am not ready for my lift yet and I am thinking of a Bendback in-ground, flush-mount, scissor lift...

Need Examples of Ceiling Light Wiring to J Box

Hi All, I have four round junction boxes in my newly drywalled ceiling and I want to run a line of surface mount Lithonia LEDs but I can't seem to find any pictures or descriptions of what the connection should look like from the j box cover to the first fixture- should this be plastic conduit...
