No, the car is too low for the pads to get into position. So I had to build platforms to drive onto. Once the lift was installed I did mark the floor with a center line to easily center /position vehicles on the lift.

One thing to think about is that measurement was without truck adapters, so if the taller vehicle you plan to lift requires truck adapters that will change the lowest lock engagement pad height I just gave you.

I have a BP 8000. The first lock engages at ~20.5". That's measuring from the garage floor to the top of the pad.

@midas another piece of data to ease your mind I raised my carriages (with no load) to the top last lock and when i grab both arms and move the carriage back/forth with in the column I can see the columns move a bit near the top, the base is firm but there is some flex there (Atlas BP 8000) - So...
