Husky Tool Box ID (Early 2000s & 42")

I'm looking at a 42" Husky Tool Box from the early 2000's (on CL.) I'd like to identify to know if it one rated for 50 lbs. a drawer or 100 lbs a drawer. The owner said two sets of the drawer rails were bent (during a move.) So I'm curious if these are still available. He didn't know the...

    Craftsman Toolboxes: Professional vs. Homeowner

I'm looking at some Craftsman rolls a rounds on Craigslist. Are there distinct differences between the professional and homeowner line of toolboxes? I assume the friction drawer slides were for the homeowner while ball bearing slides were on the professional line. Is the metal any thicker on...

Belt Tensioner Gauge for a DIY'r

I'm looking for a decent belt tensioner gauge. I'm just a DIY'r that maintains the family vechicles & kid's vehicles. I don't mind buying used (not abused) or one that costs a few dollars more (you get what you pay for). What gauges are good and which ones are to be avoided? Thanks,

    GearWrench Flex-Head Combo SAE $32.00

I've been looking for a metric set of Flex-Head ratcheting wrenches; missed the Sears deal last month. At $32, these SAE's look pretty attractive. To bad the metrics don't come in at this price. Amazon - GearWrench 9700 7 Piece Flex-Head Combination Ratcheting Wrench Set SAE...

Nothern Tool metric 10 pc stubby wrench set $9.00

I own both the SAE & Metric. I occasionally them and they're fine. It was pointed out here (GarageJournal) there generally isn't a lot of torque put on a stubby. For the $ they're a good deal.

    Kobalt 3/8 Flex head ratchet

So many pages on this ratchet! I have the HF double flex ratchet, and pulled the intermediate piece out to make a short-stubby ratchet. Has anyone tried (if there is a need) to used the HF intermediate piece on the Kobalt flex head? HF Double Flex...

1/3 HP Motor: short in stator

The first thing I learned was to fix the cord I used to test motor, the one with a broken ground prong. I know this is obvious but what more needs to be said. It would only have taken me a minute to run an ohm meter across the leads too, there's always next time. It's a pretty common motor...

1/3 HP Motor: short in stator

I'll pop the end bells off and take a look for anything obvious. I have heat shrink I could clean (insulate) anything exposed if that is the case. The motor is nothing special and right now I don't have an interest in learning how to rewind them. Don't that require special tools? Can the...

1/3 HP Motor: short in stator

I picked up a couple of vintage tools, in the pile was a 1/3 H 1725 rpm motor. To test it I hooked up a cord I had (no ground prong). It worked so I knocked it apart, cleaned it, replaced the bearings and painted it. Using the same cord to test, it worked. I thought I was set bit figured I...

The Northern Tool PASS / FAIL thread

Ditto on the Stubby Combination Wrenches - use the $5 of $15 coupon on both SAE & Metric - nice finish & how much stress do you place on a Stubby.
