My vise is a 2" clamp-on vise. I don't do any heavy work with it. But in general since the bench top is clad with a sheet of stainless steel I don't see a problem with the MDF holding up. I didn't want to drill holes in the bench to mount my 4" vise.
I don't think MDF is a great material...
It is brushed stainless steel over a solid MDF base. It is very heavy. It's better looking than it is functional, it scratches easily. I keep a roll of tool box liner or a heavy towel handy to lay down if I do any serious work on the top.
The sink is in the garage restroom. I have another sink in the garage for the messy cleaning from there.
The "container" on the side is actually a roll of paper towels. I am working on a better solution for this object.
