Eklind Is Closing Its IL Plant

A reasonably profitable company would just move their production to another lower cost state if it was costing too much in their current state. My guess is Eklind probably wasn't profitable enough to justify moving the plant to another state.

Automotive hose clamps what are good stainless ones?

The constant tension hose clamps are pretty much a requirement for silicone coolant hose to keep them from leaking. This style: https://www.mcmaster.com/54205K11/ I buy mine from NAPA.

High Bay LEDs lights with 33% fail rate, (3 out of 9).

This type of thing is why I bought my UFO lights from Metalux by Cooper. They are sold at Home Depot. There is no assurance that they will last longer, but I hope dealing will Cooper will be easier if they fail.

Is anybody still buying modern SK Tools?

I needed some larger metric wrenches to fix my vehicle last year. I spent $41.73 for a Williams made in USA wrench and $29.81 for a second Williams made in USA wrench.

Is anybody still buying modern SK Tools?

The only reason I ever bought SK is because it was made in the USA. No reason to buy SK made in China.

Anyone familiar with hydraulic leaks on a Genie GR-12, GR-16, GR-20 man lift?

I made a pretty big mistake putting it back together. I forgot to tighten one of the hose fittings at the pump so it sprayed a nice stream of fluid when I went to raise the lift to test it. It was an easy fix, and it works great now. I won't know for a bit if the leak is fixed, but I suspect...

Anyone familiar with hydraulic leaks on a Genie GR-12, GR-16, GR-20 man lift?

I am pretty sure I found the issue after pulling the pump. There is a hand pump assembly for releasing the brakes manually. One of the hose fittings was loose. The hydraulic fluid on the outside of the other hoses is below that point. The hoses above that point are dry. I need to get...

Anyone familiar with hydraulic leaks on a Genie GR-12, GR-16, GR-20 man lift?

I have a Genie GR-20 man lift. (Same as a GR-12 or GR-16 so far as I know.) There is a pretty decent hydraulic leak on the side of the mast where the hydraulic pump and the manifold are. I don't see an obvious leak, but hoses and such at the bottom are covered in dirty hydraulic oil. Anyone...

    Truss repair

Not all are. I tore down a 1911 house that was absolutely falling down, and built a new house that cost $190k to build in 2001. It was a decent house, but not huge. The house was 850 square feet with five additions. The crawl space had been poorly converted to a full basement, and some...

Craftsman "Free" Power Tool Battery & Charger?

Milwaukee has constant deals for free batteries with purchase, and the like. You can even “hack” deals at Home Depot to get pretty good discounts on certain tools or batteries. Craftsman is giving away a cheap battery, and a $50 coupon, to get people hooked on their cordless tools ecosystem...

After heavy winter, roof leaking during spring storms.

They make roofing screws where the metal covers the rubber washer completely. This helps keep the washer from deteriorating. I don’t recall the name, but I used them on the few places where I had to use an exposed screw.

    Mandatory Water Cutoff Valve?

You're willing to take the risk of water damage costing you thousands of dollars? Water damage claims are some of the most common insurance claims.

    Mandatory Water Cutoff Valve?

Is that an asphalt shingle roof? Around here, a 40 year old shingle roof would look like the next gust of wind would remove most of the shingles. I am also not sure anyone would insure a roof that old. You generally can't get a new policy on any shingle roof over ten years old right now.

Craftsman "Free" Power Tool Battery & Charger?

This seems like a lot of work for Craftsman to only have a dozen batteries available at a limited number of locations. You end up turning away potential customers when you have so few batteries available. Isn’t the idea to hook people on the ecosystem with a cheap battery so you make a profit...

    Electric lawn tractor

I mow about 1.75 acres of actual grass. Since 2021 I have put on about 60 hours. Granted, I don't mow even once per week most of the time. If someone is looking at an electric mower they probably are not mowing huge acres, or they would probably be looking at a gasoline mower. I worked at a...
