Wind turbins From an upper midwest carpenter; It is recommended to keep air moving year round in an attic space. Don't cover the wind turbins in the winter. Moisture can be caught and do damage to the building.

    Motion sensor in garage

I had a house at one time that had the light switch behind the door when you came to the garage from the house. I put in a motion sensor light so you could see when you came into the garage, but I also had other lights that I could turn on. The motion sensor served its purpose in that...

My new garage, need ideas now

You might want to think about using steel studs, not wood. They come in varried sizes. You end up with full depth insulation. You can get real creative with it. As far as price compared to wood, it depends on supply and demand. Sometimes metal is more, sometimes less. Price it at a drywall...

    Shop phone

My land line to the shop crapped out somewhere. So rather than rewire everything, I bought one of the expandable, wireless base sets. Base to shop it is about 70 feet and the reception is great. One phone can page the other phones so I don’t use the wireless intercom that I was using for the...

    Circular saw

Milwaukee 6390 Tilt-Lok saw. Light at 10.4 lbs., and powerful (15A). I’m a carpenter who uses a lot of different saws, and I own the same one. I’m very happy with the performance of the saw. As far as the battery saw, I don’t think the extra cost is worth it. If you don’t use the tool a lot...

What is causing this, and how do i fix it

There isn't any real strength in the brown sheathing that you are showing. Because the 2x4 is only attached to the sheathing and nailed at the top and bottom, it could have bowed without any specific reason. The bowing could have made the sheathing pull away from the 2x4. If you don't have any...

    A good shop soap???

I'm looking at a tub of waterless hand wipes, simular to baby wipes, but manly. This tub is Wypall brand made by Kimberly-Clark. They take off grease, paint and general crud. They work very well and you don't need water or even any other towel.

is there a market for Garage Stereo?

I think most garage/shop systems are made up from older equipment that at one time was in the house. That is what I did in my shop. I have a 100 watt per channel reciver, dvd/cd player, cable TV all running to four speakers. One in each corner of the shop. I pre wired for two speakers on the...

    What Should I do?

If you don't have backfill higher than the floor slab to put pressure on the foundation walls, the foundation will be fine without any extra precautions. But the sill plates on top of the foundation walls will need some attention. I would recomend numbering the locations and removing them...
